Tarena Roller Rink 209 Lock St, Tarentum, PA
Tarena Roller Rink 209 Lock St, Tarentum, Pennsylvania was once a rink that was recently closed. It ran in business since 1971 according to Manta but the Yellow Pages said it was operational for 70 years (This is January 2022). Which one?
This is one of the most unusual building and rink. The roller rink floor which is a non-painted Polyurethane coated--well some of it with much wood damaged by leaky roof and the floor itself lay down diagonally! That would be very rough to skate.
Please see interior for description because it is quite unusual.
It is for sale for 100,000 USD! A steal! However it is currently “Contingent.” It is in any sense means “depending on certain circumstances.” In real estate, when a real estate is listed as contingent, it means that an offer has been made and accepted, but before the deal is complete, some additional criteria must be met.
It could mean the roller rink has to be repaired and stays as a rink, not anything else OR it could mean the owner does not want next owner to have the rink continue as a rink but be something else. Another meaning here is that the new owner must do repairs to keep the place as it is-- a roller rink.
But according to a January 2022 article, a storage company wants to buy the rink and turn it into storage facility. That is another loss of a roller rink.
The Interior.
This is one of the most unusual rink seen or recorded by Dead-Rinks. The Maple floor is in disrepair. It was laydown diagonally! It is small rink with a huge section that has a room inside between the eating-snack bar area and the rink. The side has some rooms and that section has Segmental Arch. The rink floor is NOT in the Segmental Arch building section. They have very 1970s feel décor including Red Bricks, Pine Wainscoting walls, and very basic 1970s look. The eating area has concrete floor!
The Exterior.
The building is quite rather unusual. It is an L-shaped building. Actually one part is Flatted Roof Free-Span Steel Trusses Steel - Walled Storefront - like Building with Segmental Arch extension building on the side. They even have a yard that is a playground outdoors. It is quite unusual building per se.
The frontage has store-like with Mansard-like roofline with shingles on it. Of course, flat however, as seen in photos, it is in disrepair. This is why you can see the photos of the interior with the ceiling in a mess. Some of it has canvas to protect from leaks but damage is done as you can see the floor.
The Stats:
Rink Size: N/A. Floor: Non-painted Polyurethane coated Maple. Floor Layout: Diagonal!
Building Size: 10,218 SF. Built: 1952/1971. Renovations: N/A. Demolished: Still standing.
