You know that for a fact that there was once about 3000 rinks. Today it is about a third of that many still in operation. Some converted to ice rinks and others, bowling alleys (they are now called bowling houses), and others, just closed up for good. Some burned down.
You know that it is proper to say In-Line Skates, not Roller Blades or "blades" when you want to talk about set of one lined set of wheels. Roller Blades is the name of a company. Like you are not supposed to say Xerox copy. You are supposed to say photocopying.

This one below called, "This is Roller Skating (1950s) was a very good explanation of roller skating in their perspective in 1950s. Likely this rink was Levittown rink because of the light fixtures and background especially noted doing a country music dance skating. Yes, it is true skating is very healthy and highly recommended to do exercises rather than sit at home watching television and video games. Let's do roller dancing. Ladies? Wanna skate with me?

HBO Documentary on roller skating rinks. February 19, 2019
Below is a video from HBO that they aired a special on roller skates. This documentary they filmed was called, "United Skates" (not to be confused to the United Skates of America franchise chain company). This showed what happens to rinks when closed or whatever. I had no idea it was on Monday February 18, 2019. I sure hope they will have it out on videos (DVDs).
