Fashions of 1940s and 1950s.
The War put a damper on Skating as well as many activities while every one had to be put in effort to fight against tryanty during World War Two. Against the Nazi and Japanese Imperialism. And later, against the Communism and Socialism.
Influenced by patriotism and war effort and our stance, the clothing did not change much from 1930s however, they were sharper, more militaristic in daily lives but also men still wearing suits. In 1940s, it was still Double Breast Suits although the trendy Zoot Suits were already way out. And women started to wear Shoulder Padded suits and attire. Many women wore dresses. Shorter and bit tighter skirts but some loose. This site is excellent source to understand fashion attire- Vintage Retro. However, teen skaters and young adults were not like that. Just slacks and casual shirts, not dress shirts. Wearing Jeans? No, RSROA even said not allowed. Unless some rinks allowed pairs of Jeans without any holes. No ripped Jeans allowed. Must be of good character wearing Jeans and a shirt, no muscle shirts allowed. RSROA were pretty strict.
