Planning on a rink of your own?
I have no doubt you do have dreams and ideas to start your own skating rink. It sounds fun and dreamy and awesome to have a rink. In the 21st Century the world is not the same as it was in 19th or even early 20th Century that you can start a business of any kind with much ease and less laws and regulations. I am not trying to put any of you down but realistically, you have to look at the "glass half-full" rather than "glass half empty" perspective on everything.
Fads and technologies replaced another. For instance, with the invention of roller skate quads, the inventor James Plimpton had to start a rink to go along with it. And he sure did and others followed suit and it became popular. It faded down when we had another kind of quad available which was quite expensive for families of late 1800s or early 1900s called automobiles.
The automobiles enjoyed its golden era when they had over 200 manufacturers at the time but how many are available today? Buyouts, mergers, bankruptcies, and just decided to close up shop reduced the number of manufacturers. Motorcycles and snowmobiles went through the same phrases. Snowmobiles finally reached 150 manufacturers in year 1970 but only has been Big 4 since 1983 with 4 failed brands attempted to join the Big 4 brands. Because of another kind of Quad made to the scene: ATVs and related.
Shopping plazas had to join in with shopping malls in 1950s but died down in 1990s and now a few malls survived. Stores faced the same fate. We sure miss Radio Shack, Chess King, Gap, and Payless Shoes. Also Service Merchandise, BEST, Builders Square, and more.
Roller skating was popular again at the end of World War 2 and died down at he same time as Disco. That is because of the invention of polyurethane wheels for roller floors made it easier to skate and quiet too.
After Disco died down pulling down the skates, it made a come back thanks to In-line Skates. However, that quickly went down. But actually roller skating attendance is up but rinks went down. Why?
Lack of creativity and necessity to survive are two factors. I will write an ebook regarding how to set up a rink based on my work experience, my start up experience, skating experience, entertainment experience (have worked in a rink, learned from 2 owners, and movie theaters industry).
I will also add YouTube videos. Here is one excellent for you to listen how this woman who is working on setting up a roller rink who is experiencing her process on starting a rink of her own. Her name is Lindsey Schwinger on YouTube. Please watch her videos! A HUGE thanks to Lindsey Schwinger!

Now, you will see an Ebook I will explain everything such as how to make a business plan, what you need to research, what you need to do to make your rink possible to become a reality. I will be making my own business plan and you will enjoy seeing the example with actual plan I will be making. You can use the plan and change names, date, logo, location, etc so that you can make your own for your own area. Places like Syracuse, NY; Los Angeles, San Diego, California; and other cities are now lacking rinks for skaters. Stay tuned for the business plan and how to book as I go along. Will always be revised to update with the times. Thank you!
