Spoonflower.com had a contest for best roller skates pattern designed for just about anything such as curtains, bedcovers/comfort, sheets, tablecloths, and many more.  The contest ended in Feburary of this year, 2020.  And over hundreds of patterns they designed are winners and ranked.  4 did not make a single vote.

Check this out:  Spoonflowers.com-roller skates.

Needs a partner for Dead Rinks.  Dead Rinks needs a partner to do videos!  I need someone with experience in video cam especially with phones, with computer loading, right software to load onto YouTube, etc.  Have to work with me on that to upload and editing and graphics.  I focus on front of camera when filming former rinks and current rinks.  Strictly volunteer work.  Share expenses for traveling.  I do the hosting and you do the filming.

Prefer someone from Central New York so that individual can work with me on my laptop or from your laptop and I upload it (If I can).  I am excellent in art and design but not computer graphics and computer video system.  To make a series.  One rink per week in 30 minutes segments.  Maybe an hour per week (30 minutes about a dead rink, other 30 about a live rink near by).  You will be credited.  Please send resume and portfolio of computer graphics, and film/video clips (can be youtube url links) to [email protected] for consideration.  Strictly volunteer work since I am not making money at all as I am doing Dead Rinks voluntarily.

SKATELAND to Close Once Again.

Skateland in East Bremerton, Washington is to close on June 30th, 2019 after a number of years operating there.  It was originally in Salem, Oregon and the original owner wanted to sell and the new owner bought it and had it relocated by dismantling it and rebuilt it on an island off of Seattle, WA. so it was two lives out of nine however.  It will not be third of nine lives of a cat.  It will become a storage facility.  The reason for closure is debt.  Rising costs have forced a difficult decision and sold to a neighbor company that is a storage company for 1.8 million dollars for this rather unusual 22,800 SF building.

An interesting article recently published in February 2019--
Thrill of the Skate-Philly sees roller rink revival

This means roller skating IS ON THE WAY UP!  Not down, UP!  According to the article, its up to 38 million skaters now.  An increase of 2 million skaters.  That account for over 1 percent increase.  Not much but 2 million is a lot of more skaters and new skaters combined.  This has to be accounted for regular skaters, competitors, roller hockey players, and roller derby players.

Rinks are down but number of skaters are up.  This create a potential problem of sort: more skaters to crowd up in rinks that it would be bit difficult to fit all skaters in.  Rinks are going to have to turn away people if crowded because of the max number of skaters allowed in the building.  Some have already turned away skaters.

A television program in 2019 on Fox called, The Cool Kids.  It featured roller skating once.  In fact showed in commercials often.

Similar to what the Big Bang Theory did (I do not have the date when they aired the skating segment) but they roller skating.
