DeKalb Hollywood Skating Rink, 7189 Rockbridge Rd, Stone Mountain, GA. Noticed they have a day care style for little kids room. Also a bar for a church? And noticed they have a photo showing pews and chairs set up for church. Source: Loopnet.
DeKalb Hollywood Skating Rink, 7189 Rockbridge Rd, Stone Mountain, GA
This interesting rink was operated by Day of Change Family Worship Center. It was a Christian skating rink with Christian music as its website, still operational as of February 22, 2019. It was up for sale on Loopnet as of January 30, 2019. Very recently they put that up. Likely last true activity was in Sunday October 7, 2018. Most of their activities were church related activities listed on the website. Will attempt to save those webpages.
The goal of this rink is focus on Jesus Christ and God for Christian skaters and other skaters who attend the rink as means to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ through music and fellowship. As a Christian webowner of Dead-Rinks, I totally understands that and that is what their purpose is for.
Sadly, they had to fold their ministry. Ironically, this is second Christian ministry that owned a rink folded I worked on this site. (The other was being X-Treme Skate and Family Fun Center in Corsicana, Texas today.)
This rink building is a common warehouse look with aluminum siding vertical sheets and roof. It was Tan colored with beautiful interior. Colorful glow-in-dark neon carpet, walls, and has beautiful concrete rink that is deep blue, epoxy finish and oiled. It shines well. Too bad it is no longer a rink.
10,000 Dollars lease per month. Ouch! That is a lot of money, don't you think? But that is what they are asking for according to Loopnet. I believe the rink was a non-profit because the nature of Church and Christian related and fund-raising needs on the website. As of 31 August 2021 according to the realtor who is selling this rink told me it is for 955,000 USD.
The rink likely was opened after it was built in 2006. It ran just only 12 years.
The ceiling is black with solid colors such as Lime Green, Grape Purple, etc. It had a lot of those colors.
It has videos on there but its not able to upload onto here. See it while it last.
The walking score is pretty good at 54 points out of 100. Bus.. no.
Interior:
The interior is a very attractive looking with dark glow-in-the-dark carpet and two-tone Rich Deep Blue painted Concrete rink. White in the Center. Ceiling is Black but the walls are two tones, including Black and off White-White. It has a practice rink floor. They even have a bar! yes, a night club bar style with stools. They even have a daycare room. I think it was there because of the church built that room.
As of August 2021, I do not see it is a church anymore. They folded. No website. it is real sad. Both the rink and the church that they needed both physical and spiritual rolling in their lives.
Exterior:
It is very plain Tan looking Warehouse with Gable roof and Steel walls. It sits a little higher up than the plaza in front of the rink. It has a very nice landscaping and layout of the grounds though. No wonder it is worth the price of nearly a million US Dollars all propped up real nice. I actually love this place. Beautifully designed interior and the outside with the landscape and landscape design. The building could have use more pizazz.
