Courtesy of Skate City Overland Park. Beautiful wood floor! And I love the American colors of Americana Red and Americana Navy Blue. Of course, White is on the screen. Haha. Now, that Americana. The Skate City colors actually. Beautiful interior with old mainstays including Starburst lights, Diamond Balls, Globe pendant lights, and new light equipment as well.

Originally it was Skateland Centers and Skateland as well as Skateland South but right now it is Skate City Overland Park at 10440 Mastin Street, Overland Park, Kansas.
There is not much information with the Skateland Centers, Skateland South, and Skateland. That would be the same ownership as the other Skateland Centers that was headquartered at another rink at the time. Apparently the same management back then acquired franchisee rights to the name and convert the style to Skate City as you seen everywhere especially in Kansas and Colorado where it came from. In fact, the architectural design is exact copy of each other with the other Skateland Centers such as the Wyandotte Skateland West, and the former Skate World which is now Skate City Shawnee.
Currently Larry Bishop owns the three Skate City operations, the Overland Park, Shawnee, and one in Pueblo, Colorado.
Previously, it was John B Creten who owned this location according to Buzz File. John began this rink in 1976. I have no date for the closure and sold. Likely in early 2000s.
ReMax said that on September 11, 2005, the rink and building (likely both) were sold. Likely this was when Skateland was sold and now its a Skate City. The price? A hot 1,596,000 USD.
Thanks to Realty Trac, the last time the building was purchased on June 6, 2016. But I think it was just management sold that year but kept the franchise with Skate City.
The Interior.
Beautiful interior right now as Skate City. I do not know what it was like when it was a series of Skateland including Skateland, Skateland South. I would like photos of those.
The Exterior.
It is a Flat roofed Free-Span Steel Truss Cinderblock-Walled Warehouse - like Building that set apart from the other two Skateland rinks in the area because the others had vertical White Stone colored Veneer Stone wall pattern. This one is called Ribbed Cinderblocks. Common in late 1970s and 1980s. Same material that I designed for my sister's computer school business back in 1980s. Same material to replace boring standard Cinderblocks on outside. (Now that building has doubled thick walls! However, the way the layout is quite similar to the other Skatelands/Skate City rinks.
The Stats:
Rink Size: N/A. Floor: Clear coated Maple. Floor Layout: LOG.
Building Size: 22,540 SF. Built: 1976. Demolished: Still standing.. Heavily renovated for Skate City uniformed design.
