This rink called Roll by the Rails Skating Rink as well as Walbridge Roller Rink was located on 107 N Main Street in Walbridge, Ohio. This rink was short lived. It was operational from 2004 according to Dun & Bradstreet website. However, in four short years, they folded and sold in 2009 in an auction according to Loop Net. The year of listing and delisting was in 2008. They listed on 12 February 2008 and updated was 22 July 2008. But they delisted it and put it up for auction. The relisting was on 14 September 2009 and last updated (delisted) 16 November 2009. Short lived and sold quick. Quite odd I think.
I do not have any information regarding Walbridge Roller Rink because seemly it had no information but is listed on one of the lists from the past.
It was right next door to VFW Hall. Speaking of VFW Hall, they bought it right next door to relocate or to expand their footprint in that building. It would make sense they needed to expand. This is why it was sold that fast. They saw that opportunity.
The listing did say it was for sale including equipment meaning the main stock-- the skate rentals and the DJ and snack bar equpment. The VFW Hall must got rid of roller skates but kept other equipment for their club activiites. I have been to VFW halls in my hometowns and they do have DJ equpments, big enough floor for dances, banquets, receptions, things like that. Been to singles dances, a wedding reception or two, and my good friend who is an Elvis personator and noted singer with a label. He would sing there for the veterans and their familes
The walk score is 35 which means automotive depency.
The Interior.
Likely they had Maple wood floor. It is quite small rink with just the building size of 6,449 Square Feet! This might be the reason for its immediate closure due to the size. Way too small.
The Exterior.
Beautiful Dark Red Brick building with Stepped wall Roof front however, the real roof was Segmental Arch.
The Stats:
Rink Size: N/A. Floor: Non-painted, coated Maple. Floor Layout: Log Cabin.
Building Size: 6,449 SF. Built: N/A. Renovations: N/A. Demolished: Still standing.
Type of Building: Free-Span Steel Trusses Dark Red Bricks - Walled Warehouse - like Building.
Roof: Segmental Arch.
Acres: N/A.
Operated: (Overall)-- 2004 to 2008/2009.
Walbridge Roller Rink: N/A.
Roll by the Rails Skating Rink: 2004 to 2008/2009.
Reason for Closure:
