Coasters 5001 Nebraska Ave, Huber Heights, OH. The 1980s look with those colors of Purple with Off-White which was common in that decade but this was taken in 2007. Noticed the blocks outlines. The paint job clearly was painted over the original at some point of the building's life. I believe this was taken when it was Coasters. Source: Google.
Coasters 5001 Nebraska Ave, Huber Heights, OH. The 1980s look with those colors of Purple with Off-White which was common in that decade but this was taken in 2009. Noticed the blocks outlines. I was right it was Coasters. I found he Google Map first as I was trying to find older pictures yesterday and today I found it on Loop Net and only showed this one. (Loop Net always have many photos when a business or building is for sale, then when it is sold, the interior photos are removed as it is in this case with Coasters) They are gone. Oh well. One thing though when the photographer did, he did not show with the front. I know why. The logo for Coasters were on the SIDE! Not the front. Source: Loop Net.
Orbit Skate Center 5001 Nebraska Ave, Huber Heights, OH. Used to be Coasters. The new paint job and new logo on the wall served as a sign. This was taken in around 200os-ish or so before they painted again. Noticed the blocks outlines. The walls were painted once again and this time, it became Orbit Skate Center. This sign on the wall is best to read from the road than the next design (see below) and you can't win both. The next logo shown below is real professional looking and nice but the one here is much easier to see. The colors were just right for this architecture. 1950s colors! Baby Blue with Sunburst Yellow and White. Source: Loop Net.
Orbit Skate Center 5001 Nebraska Ave, Huber Heights, OH. Used to be Coasters. The new paint job and new logo on the wall served as a sign. This was taken in 2011. Noticed the blocks outlines. The walls were painted once again and this time, it became Orbit Skate Center. As I said about the logo. Hard to read this. Source: Google.
Coasters 5001 Nebraska Ave, Huber Heights, OH. You can see up close of the exterior wall showing that Mid-Century Modernism shown on the wall. It was Textile Blocks. Source: Google.
Orbit Skate Center 5001 Nebraska Ave, Huber Heights, OH. Used to be Coasters. Beautiful floor with a coat of urethane. Maple hardwood with Fan layout. This is current Orbit Skate Center look. Nothing look like 1960s. I still need to see the old rinks' pictures and add them though. Source: Orbit Skate Center website.

Coasters was a rink at one time before Orbit Skate Center is presently operating at 5001 Nebraska Avenue, Huber Heights, Ohio. Also was Heights Rolarena before Coasters operated there. That one also spelled as Heights Rollerena.
There is a source saying the old address at one time was at 762 Columbus Avenue, Lebanon, Ohio (Do it in the Americas). Anyone know if this is true and to confirm it was?
Orbit Skate Center faced a huge fight among teens on December 31, 2019. 200 teenagers fought but only 5 were arrested. 2 were sent to the center, 2 were released to parents, and 1 adult. They had to call in 99, a police code for entire nearby police departments to reach to the rink.
The Interior.
Of course, the Googie's Architecture on the outside was a no match for the interior that lacks Googie's Architecture. The roller floor is non-painted, Clear coated Polyurethane coated Maple Hardwood floor with Fan layout. I do not know what the appearance when it was before Orbit. The current one has a lot of Black-light colors on and that feel to me like, do not get me wrong. We all love Black-light colors so when turn on the black lights, it glows. It is the basic look that gives so much Snow-White color on the wall against Black lights. Maybe add more colors on the wall? Besides that, Orbit is a term they use related to outer space, universe. So, if they can, they can redo the wall to make it look more like outer space. Kids love to see space theme more. I am sure. I have seen other rinks that had their walls entirely in black or Mid-Night Blue with stars and planets. One rink I love with 1950s space themed man and boy shooting laser, a la Lost n Space feel to it.
The Exterior.
I love the exterior design of this place. The walls... very 1950s Googie's Architecture for this building. Free-Span Steel Trusses Cinderblocks - Walled arena like. It has Gable roof. There is a vertical lines that runs in middle of the exterior front wall. This has to be classified as Googie's Architecture. It was built in 1962. Just passed the height of 1950s Googie's theme.
What is more is that the walls were not flat. It has that MCM (Mid-Century Modern) Textile block exterior side. See photo up close for that view. So, this brings the question: Did they have a rink operational in 1950s-60s? Good question. Anybody? Or was it something else before Heights Rolarena? I believe it was Heights Rolarena because of the name sounded right for its era.
Remember always never underestimate the seriousness of Googie's.
