Blanton's No. 3 Andalusia Alabama
This was the third rink with the name Blanton. This was Gene Blanton's owned rink. The number 3 as said in the sign. And the former manager of this rink who informed me. This was at Andalusia, Alabama. Street? I do not know. But anyway, Gene Blanton owned Blanton Number 1 which later became the Lynam Up Rink and the Blanton 2.
This is all I have on the looks as seen in the photograph.
The former manager of this rink told me what he said in the email I received today:
[This was the] biggest of the rinks I was a manager of the rink's very nice layout with also a lighted dance floor in back of the rink closed in the early 90s. Building is still there but was turned into mini retail spaces.
Wow, a Disco floor, awesome. Reminded me of the floor that John Travolta in his snappy white three piece suit made his famous dance moves into both the movie and disco history ever made (danced at Studio 57 in Manhattan, New York). Oh the sound of the Staying Alive gets in my head. Staying Alive ah ah ah.. OK... that music.. was the Bee Gee, not mine. Haha.
OK, now I got that out of my head. I pray yours is out of your head too. Back to this. Haha.
The building remains but it is now a mini plaza.
