Lynam Up Skates and Game Room was a rink and arcade at 1375 Highway 84 E., Excel, Alabama. However, the map on Google Map showed up at the wrong location. About 2 doors down. It did not say much about this and there is no website, no nothing. Just when it was established.
It was established in 2006 (Manta, Dun & Bradstreet) and nothing regarding to closure if any. It is a mystery. But according to Rink Time, it was opened in 2002. Please which one of you stand up telling the truth. This isn't the Liars' Club Game Show. Haha.

I was there yesterday!..It is not open..the outside is very run down..stuff hanging down blowing in the wind...Looked in the windows...Pro- Shop is filled with skates..new and used......old and dusty......like someone just walked away the entrance is as they left it....a couch and a chair for sitting and the payment window has a marqi stating $5 admission $6 with skates....$1 dollar off with church program. A padlock on the floor entrance and no windows to see condition of floor.....It opened between 1971 and 1981 revealed by vintage aerial photos.....It is next to a very old looking 5 lane bowling alley built before 1971.
Their Facebook account is gone. Empty. Its on the list in GGD and Edge but its gone.
So it appeared to be really opened in the 70s or very early 1980s. Between 1971 and 1981. Now needs to get deeper. Hmm. Any one else know about it?
I am shocked that they left skates and supplies in the pro shop. They have been closed since 2018 and left it there? Wow, sure a waste.

Another email I received today mentioned this rink --
Closed but was bought out to be renamed Lynam Up also closed rink is still intact been closed for a while, but is for sell. [It] was a very nice rink in the early 80s. Video projector disco lights and a lighted disco floor for people to dance. Gene Blanton owned the rinks.
Thanks for the head up, D.B. It apparently still up for sale even with everything intact in there including skate rentals and more. Folks, contact me and I will contact D.B. or someone connecting to this former rink. Woo! lighted disco floor! Woo. A rare glass floor with lights just wanted to be like the club John Travolta danced for Saturday Night Fever. "Staying alive.. ah ah ah! Staying aliveeeee!" Ok, that was Bee Gee music. Not mine. Oh dang, now I can hear that music in my head! I had better hearing back then (I am Deaf btw).
Whew. Now that is done... OK, back to this... The floor is rarely seen in roller rinks. Usually for dancing, not for skating because if you did, you will crack it. I know they had thick floor. I know of a rink had glass disco lighted floor for their dance center but really short lived. I believe what I heard it was a cracked glass floor and they had to take it out for safety. It was like six months they had it. Because I was there often after skating about every week in 1980s. I think this was in between 1983 and 1985. I do not recall.
Gene Blanton owned this rink as well as ones in Atmore Alabama and Andalusia Alabama.
