Both courtesy of Google Map and photo adjustment by Mark Falso. Only known photos so far for the Blanton's Roller Rink. Terrible photographs taken in 2008. It became a shed dealer. Both closed.
Longs Roller Rink 9616 Highway 31 Atmore, AL
Blanton’s Roller Rink No. 2 9616 Highway 31 Atmore, AL
Blanton’s Roller Rink No. 3 9616 Highway 31, Atmore, AL
Blanton’s Roller Rink No. 2 9616 Highway 31 Atmore, AL
Blanton’s Roller Rink No. 3 9616 Highway 31, Atmore, AL
Blanton’s Roller Rink No. 2 and Blanton’s Roller Rink No. 3 were on 9616 Highway 31 in Atmore, AL. It was near a corner of a small road and Highway 31. It was already demolished sometimes after 2008 according to Google Map. Unfortunately it was torn down. Not much history at all regarding this building. Just a name, address, and only stated it was closed on Yelp and that was just about all.
Anyone know about this place? Why renamed as No. 2 and then No. 3? Even worse is Longs Roller Rink with ZERO information.
I do not know why they named this rink number 2 and then number 3. That rink number one later became Lynan Up. See Blanton's number 1 here. Blanton's number 3 here.
UPDATE --
I got an email from a D.B. who mentioned about those rinks. He said that this rink was sold a few times but Blantons had it back a few times before closing as a rink, Rink became a nightclub before being torn down.
Gene Blanton owned this rink and the other two rinks including Blanton's 1, and Blanton's 3.
Wow, back and forth several times? That is very unusual.
The Interior.
N/A
The Exterior.
Gable building, Not sure what kind of structure interior it was especially building frames. Free-span? Perhaps. It was apparently look like a wood structure building. I can not tell in those old gristly photos of Google Map of 2008. Terrible terrible software.
They may have closed long before 2008 because of the sheds they were selling on the parking lot in front of the rink. The building was painted Fire Engine Red and White. They had colorful fence around the side of the building. Must be for their outdoor activities at the time.
The building was demolished perhaps just after 2008.
