Landmark Skate, 1002 Navy Blvd, Pensacola, Florida
This skating rink in the panhandle part of Florida city called Pensacola was named, Landmark Skate. There is not much information regarding to the rink. I have no information on open, close. and lack of photographs of the rink itself. The rink was opened and ran by Gene Kerr, the owner.
Just a few pictures of people at the rink in Facebook though. According to Yelp, the last person posted was in 2016 and apparently the rink has long since closed for a while because of no more complaints. They all were, sadly, gave the rink one star. Nothing positive about it. Maybe that was the contribution to the rink's demise.
The owner owned two parts: the rink and the gas station. The building was blue colored gabled roof warehouse like building with a motorized oversized skate up front to spot for drivers and skaters to arrive to the rink.
The interior had a large white poured concrete floor, with epoxy finish and polished. It had old fashioned looking wood rails around the rink which didn't look very effective to protect people. Looked like it would break. They had dark walls and decorative Roman drapes over the rink.
It had everything for the rink. The building was recently sold and not listed. Good thing I caught all those pictures just weeks ago. Apparently sold between last month, January and this month, February 2019.
The reason for its closure was not known but likely because of the poor customer service (according to Yelp).
What will become of the rink is unknown.
