Winland Auditorium East Liverpool, OH. Back the day, roller skating as well as retail shopping and other activities due to "Blue Sunday" laws. I think they were petitioning to lift that law to allow skating on Sun Courtesy of Billboard - 14 March 1942, page 47, 4th Column, 5th briefing.

Winland Auditorium East Liverpool, OH. Congratulations Mr and Mrs. Harry Matheny on your wedding day way back then! What a huge wedding! Can you top this many? It was a ball, not roller skate wedding. It was an uniformed officers ball and likely Harry was an officer. Or not but who knows. Winland Auditorium East Liverpool, OH
Winland Auditorium East Liverpool, Ohio. It was established by William J. Winland in 1932. It was the fifth rink build in East Liverpool, Ohio before one more rink, KayBee Roller Arena was build in 1959. That rink, KayBee was the last rink in that city. They had rinks between 1870s to 2000s.
Yes, that is correct, that the rink was opened in 1932. Not 1946. That was when the new management leased the rink from Winland's company, Winland - Dillon Company. That was because it appeared what the articles said that Dick Dillon decided to lease and operate the rink himself from his partner, William J. Winland in 1946. Hope that makes it all clear. The website you will see in source, East Liverpool Historical Society was in error. The actual opening was in 1932. It is a seasonal rink which means closed for summer. Many rinks still do that today because who wants to skate inside while its nice out. Second of all, expensive air conditioning electric bills. That is why.
William J. Winland, Dick Dillon, and James Dillon as well as Merrell A. Wood were all partners. It was Dick Dillon that wanted to operate the rink himself in 1946 as others as silent partners I believe.
Wood - Dillon Company was also in operations which apparently was at a time without Winland participate as a business partner. I will have to find out more about the company at another time. Names are similar too so I have to watch out for that. Wood - Dillon Company would be Merrell A. Wood and James Dillon as co-owners and partners in the rink operations.
They operated several rinks including Winland Auditorium, Geauga (Lake Park) Skateland
Anyway, one more time, the rink was opened in 1932 thanks to this article in Billboard dated
I have no dates for closure. Not even grand opening in 1932. Anyone? Also photos of the rink and building?
The rink had several functions including formal balls, dances, events, and even a wedding during the Bicentennial Celebration year of 1976!
So, the rink closed after 1976 but before the turn of the century likely.
The Interior.
Since I have no pictures, no other information but due to the era, for sure they had wood floors. Likely Hardwood Maple.

Dead Rinks is now International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© because many former names have become new names at the same rinks that are still active and due to much confusion, We have decided that International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© fits better for all rinks including defunct, closed, inactive, rebooted, and rinks that are still active today. For short on this site, it is International Roller Skating Rinks History© Bear with us as we change the entire site page by page each day. Thank you for understanding.

Rinks that are closed are considered dead. Rinks that are/were sold and with new management names new name(s), the former are considered dead. Previous operating rink that closed but came back years later, are considered dead because the reopening is considered rebooted, nothing to do with the former. Since we are rebooted to allow alive rinks, active rinks, we welcome those active rinks as well. It will be described.
