Top Hat Rollaway 154 Elm Street, Holyoke MA
Top Hat Rollaway 154 Elm Street, Holyoke Massachusetts was once a rink in between anything related to automobiles. At least all were related to wheels.. Having said, it was Groise Bros. Garage, Stearns Car Co. (1916), Skilling's Garage & Tire Station. (1920), Seyffer Motors (1952) and Yoerg's Auto Body (1955). But after that auto body shop, in 1958, the roller rink opened and then closed 9 years later--in 1967, it was sold once more to an automobile garage. This time for Ed Nacke Chevrolet.
Order of timeline--
Date unknown to 1916 -- Groise Bros. Garage
1916 to 1920 -- Stearns Car Co.
1920 to 1952 -- Skilling's Garage & Tire Station.
1952 to 1955 -- Yoerg's Auto Body.
1958 to 1967 - Top Hat Rollaway.
1967 on -- Ed Nacke Chevrolet.
Frederick Zytkiewicz Sr. and his son, Fred Zytkiewicz Jr. were owners/operators of the rink.
This might interest you. Likely this was under same management or bought out and relocate: there was a Top Hat Hall that was once known as The Arcadia located on 261 Appleton Street on the 2nd floor, in Holyoke. It had bingo, dancing and roller skating. There is a separate profile for this rink because I do not have any confirmation that this was related to the same rink that was relocated or not.
Next door was the recently closed Fun Times Lanes and before that, Bowl-O-Drome.
Currently appeared abandoned according to the photos on LoopNet. Google Maps agreed.
The Interior.
Unknown. Likely Maple wood floor because of the garage floor for few decades may have been ruined by dropped metal materials such as tools, automotive parts, jacks, and equipment. I do not know. But the floor may have been removed for the Chevy dealership garage.
The Exterior.
It was a Red Brick building with the appearance of a old age mom-and--pop style automobile repair shop/garage. However, it was perhaps different when it was a roller rink. Must have had garage door replaced with windows and doors. But 9 short years later, it was sold again for a dealer and was reversed back to garage doors again. The frontage appeared more like a boarded up store front but they were garage doors (3).

Rinks that are closed are considered dead. Rinks that are/were sold and with new management names new name(s), the former are considered dead. Previous operating rink that closed but came back years later, are considered dead because the reopening is considered rebooted, nothing to do with the former.
As for “For Office Only” is for my reasoning and private legal reason for that.
