Sports Entertainment and Expo Center 700 East Erie Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was operational for a time. So were other names including Entertainment and Expo Center and Entertainment Sports Center. I believe it was name variation made by websites because I seen different spelling for the same place. Even they had address wrong. The address I got from one of those rink lists from 1990s saying it was 700 West Erie Avenue. The correct address is 700 EAST Erie Avenue.
They messed up somewhere. Maybe because of the address may have hurt their potential operations? If you use wrong address for your business, it is a costly mistake. Therefore, please check your business cards! Your website, etc. Towns do have North, East, West, and South aka N.E.W.S. -- NEWS for directions. Ie- in my hometown there is North Salina Street, South Salina Street... Erie Boulevard East, Erie Boulevard West. The reason I said about the mess up because on Google Map, I found 700 block of West Erie Avenue. But there is no 700 Erie. It starts with 701 as a three story townhouse sitting on the corner. And the yoo block was next to it. Nothing. Not even cross the street which would be proper. But there is no numbers for that.
So, to make more logical sense, it would have to be West Erie Avenue. That was a huge age old Brick-building with a few stories high. Common as factories or even forums back the day. I believe it was actually a one story building adjected to the multi-story building (See photo above.) It was possible where the roller rink was. Likely it was a Free-span compared to the old factory like building. Today it is a plaza. Now, that part reminded me of a former rink, I cannot recall which. It was torn down and it became a park in the city. That former rink in the city that I cannot recall had a forum like with multi-story and all bricks and you could drive through the building. About a month ago I did this one. Hard to remember all names.
But you get the idea. This building survived and now a market plaza.
I found many websites with this place's name and address but no information on when it began and when they closed. Also who owned it, everything. Just real estate and listing. That is all.
It might be now called FiDonce Player Development. It is not found on Erie Avenue side although the address says so. It is on the side. It is actually on G Street. They will be relocating soon though. Looks like they have a good basketball development program. Like a Karate school. This is basketball school.
Currently, two basketball courts, volleyball courts.
The Interior.
It is hard to tell because of the massive long Brick Building. What can I say? I think the easiest answer would be the one story section on the right side of the long massive part of the building on Erie but then again, it could be where FiDonce is located.. on G Street side of the building. Which one. Well, for now, the Erie Avenue side: It is joined together The one story building on the right is joined with the two-story building with the tower in the center front of the building. It was industrial building at one time. I do not know what industry was it situationed there since it was built in 1930.
The rink section interior may have used Concrete floor. The photo showed how clear the floor was. In another word, crack-less floor. It had Columns/Posts to support the building but they had a roller rink.
The Exterior.
I strongly believe the Entertainment Sports Center was on one story section of the long shaped building. It was on the right side and you can see 1920s-30s looking one story building. It does appear like it did become a roller rink there. The columns seemly were set more far apart than the multi-story buildng had. The roof was a mix. You would have to see the top of the roof to see different heights, shapes, and forms.
