The name of the rink was spelled correctly with the Z instead of the S as the owners was being creative. The founders, Todd and Shayla who owned this rink for seven years. They sold the rink to Peggy Piotraschke and Todd and Shayla closed the last session on Sunday, 30 December, 2012 at 4PM. They opened in 2005.
Peggy Piotraschke took over and restarted the rink in 2013. Name for that rink was called, Nothing Fancy Rink. Unfortunately, I do not have photos of the facility both interior and exterior when it was Skaterz however, you can see perhaps some familiarity. Same Steel Trusses, same locations of snack bar, etc. But the interior and exterior as it is now as Nothing Fancy Skating Rink. It was done remodeled perhaps around 2017 or early 2018 according to skaters on Google critics page.
Having said, it is new building because of the appearance. It is a brick built look like a P-Store or a D-store on the outside because of the corner where the doors are and the awing. Most drug store chains have it on the corner of their buildings. It has that same function. Very basic brick block as they call that. It has flat roof. It is set up in the countryside because if you look at Google Map, pretty much flat farm fields surrounding with a few houses in the distance behind the rink. Yes, Google Mapper did drive on the parking lot up close to the rink.
The interior is beautiful state of the art complex. The original owners did it correctly with this appearance. But with the new owners operating Nothing Fancy, all Snow-White on walls, ceilings, steel trusses, and half walls as well. It looked like it would have been a roller hockey rink appearance but they stopped short of having that especially with the Rink Yellow bottom border around the rink. Instead it is Midnight Blue with Patriotic Red around the top of the Half Walls. Even almost entire side wall of the building. They stopped short on that part.
The snack bar area has a nice Standard Blue carpet which looks very clean and not busy. This facility appears very Minimalist feel by the colors for interior design to it inside but standard para-Modernism architecturally. It feels very airy in the rink. The floor is quite clear like glass on Maple wood. Very good job on sanding and clear coating and special coating on it. Both owners of Skaterz and Nothing Fancy did excellent job on the floor. And I want to add, Piccadilly Palace. One of the best done I believed. I highly recommend skaters to go to this rink WITH CARE.
However, I am not going to say to you to look up in Google criticism by 100 skaters for Nothing Fancy Rink. I see common denominator pointing two major customer service mistakes. However I am going to say one thing for Nothing Fancy is that they need to be educated on Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and about people with Disabilities (PwDs). You see, two or three people have complained about the management were rude to people with disabilities and that is wrong. Second of all, it is wrong to call the police when a person takes off the skates. And must wait in lobby? That person BROKE a bone from skating and calling the police instead of calling her mother? Wow. This is huge customer service no-no. And another same way who was hurting. Come on. You know that for a fact you have to take skates off every two hours because of the sweating and wet socks. Must come out and change socks. This is the US military standards they do that with their mickey mouse shoes as they are called. My family served in the military and they told me that. And I was a Boy Scout. Please see my e-book on how to save rinks on my site. You will understand customer service is quite important, rink owners.
UPDATE! --05 JUNE 2023 --
I made this profile during 2019, the first full year of this website, the second state to work on after first state I worked on was New York State, my home state where I was born and grew up. This was made in 2019 while Nothing Fancy Rink was in operational. Now Nothing Fancy has been sold in 2022, 3 years after I made the profile regarding the discrimination and how the treatment was. And yes, I am familiar with the monkey too.
Skaters may have noticed the complaints on Google and by word of mouth and this may have eventually the real reason why the owner sold the rink because of the complaints and poor customer service and mis-treatments. Never ever treat anybody bad or wrong or you could be sued by a skate patron. In 2019 and 2020, I worked on other states and other rinks whereas rink operators had mistreated people greatly at the time and they faced protests and one case the US Supreme Court decision to allow a rink operator to have rights to reject a person based on whatever. This was resulting from him rejecting certain ethnic groups but eventually he comply the law ordered by the USSC to allow any groups of people to skate. But the rejection rights is referred to more of.. trouble makers, improper dressed, etc. This is where I can go on and on. This subject another time another place. Let's back to the rink.
Back to the rink..
Eventually, the skating rink was sold in December 2022 to a man named Scott Schuh who will expand and renovate the skating rink from 24,000 Square-Foot into about 36,000 Square-Feet of facility making the rink floor bigger. This size I can picture because I skated at Sports-O-Rama in Mattydale, NY that was 35,000 Square Feet. So, it helps me picture the size. It will be one of the largest skating facility. But still behind the Guptil's Arena in upstate NY near Albany, NY.
The expansion will add more activities. But the owner is throwing a teaser in this article saying it could be anything and even wanted to add a bar. He wanted laser room, more arcades, things like that. More of an entertainment center than a roller rink.
Scott calls it Piccadilly Palace. From nothing into a palace. Funny way to put it but true.
The previous owner, Peggy Piotraschke owned the Nothing Fancy rink and in fact, had her pet, a Java Macaque Monkey named Wyatt exhibited at her rink. The town ordinance allowed her to have that pet there. This is one of most unusual and unique they ever had for any rinks in the history of roller skating rinks.
Since the building was built in 2005, was there another rink before 2014? Remains mysteriously. Anybody?
Nothing Fancy Rink was up for sale on 10 February 2022 and was sold in December 2022. This history of the ownership is quite similar to the owners who owned Skate 'N' Place The New Beginning. Both sets of owners bought their rinks in 2014, and both sold their rinks in December 2022. However, only successful was the Nothing Fancy Rink will live on as Piccadilly Palace while Skate 'N' Place The New Beginning will not continue as a rink. I think I know why. But I cannot confirm to put in here. Ok, actually I have a theory but I cannot say that. Well, I can tell you this.. could be the cost or could be the appeal or could be the realtor poor sales representation. Could be anything.
The Interior.
Skaterz Skate & Fun Center: The rink floor was Ice Rink White and the appearance looked very much like a hockey rink. The size appears to be large. I am not sure the size and I am waiting for replies from both owners. The former and the current owners regarding the size and any other information. While I wait, I produced this page.
Nothing Fancy Rink: The skating rink interior was pretty much the same. Maybe slight changes but I am not sure what changes have done.
The ceiling was quite high as I can see and it is very much like a high school or college ice rink facility where they play or practice respectively. Funny thing, I do not see Roller Hockey but they had Figure Skating and Speed Teams on that floor.
Piccadilly Palace: The floor is all clear as you can see the Hardwood Maple wood floor.
The Exterior.
Skaterz Skate & Fun Center: The exterior appeared to look more like a supersized P-store or D-store (Pharmacy and Dollar Stores). Full of Brick with unique wall design on one side that looked like steps. It reaches up to the top. Partial White walled. The sign on the wall was extremely small and hard to see. Perhaps that is what the town ordinance required to be that size. That is not good. Can go bigger. But the attraction on the exterior was awesome. Free-Span Steel Trusses Bricks - Walled P/D store - like Building with a roof that is Flatted.
Nothing Fancy Rink: The exterior appeared to be exact the same. Just signage change.
Piccadilly Palace: The exterior will be revealed. The owner, Scott will expand the facility. Give it time. It will be nice on a Six Acres of land. Plenty of room to add more than 12,000 Square Feet as the owner wanted. Expensive yes. But the more entertainment, more profitable it will be. Most rinks are on two to three acres but six? That would be three times more. Can go expansive trend if he does, He would have about 55,000 Square Feet of facility because he will need more parking space for more staff and patrons coming to work and have fun respectively. Free-Span Steel Trusses Bricks - Walled P/D store - like Building with a roof that is Flatted. The expansion will alter the apperance but we will see. Stay tuned!

Dead Rinks is now International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© because many former names have become new names at the same rinks that are still active and due to much confusion, We have decided that International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© fits better for all rinks including defunct, closed, inactive, rebooted, and rinks that are still active today. For short on this site, it is International Roller Skating Rinks History© Bear with us as we change the entire site page by page each day. Thank you for understanding.

Rinks that are closed are considered dead. Rinks that are/were sold and with new management names new name(s), the former are considered dead.
