Route 66 Skates 1150 S Sheridan Rd, Tulsa, OK. Grand Opening at 4pm Saturday June 12, 2021. The difference on the wall was the new name replacing Skateland as you can see it says Route 66 Skates. I also noticed another piece of wall that was painted over on the left side where Apple Green is. Compare that to the Skateland version a few photos up. Source: Route 66 Skates Facebook.

Skateland Tulsa was a good long time roller rink that was held on 1150 S Sheridan Road in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This rink was operated for years just off of famous Route 66 Mother Road. Later it became Route 66 Skates in 2021 and it only operated for a two solid months! Sad! They are closed!
The Enlows owned it for 52 and half years. This would date back to 1968.. Around August-September 1968 they first operated the rink. Originally Steve Enlows' parents started the rink and then the son and his wife, Sheila continued to operate the rink till end of March 2021 when they sold the rink to
The reason for closing this family run business is because Steve and Shelia are retiring together. They wanted to enjoy their retirement and travel. Maybe right along Route 66 where they are from. Congratulations Steve and Shelia on your retirement! Enjoy!
UPDATE! --
Darrien Johnson who is the owner of another rink knew about this one and the family that operated the rink. He also got an update for me in his email. Yes, it became Route 66 Skates to name after the Mother Road Historic Route 66. That was great. But the sad news that the new owner decided to close and turn into an event center. Oh lovely. I hope they keep the floor! Why? The next owner can buy it and resurrect it as a roller rink again! One can hope! But from my experience here nearly 3 years with Dead-Rinks and thousands of profiles, not one event center that was a rink returned back to a rink. I had a skater 3 days ago asked me in an email about a former rink in Georgia that is now an event center if it was up for sale because she wanted to buy it and turn into a rink again. Yes, people DO dream of returning it back to the way it was. I am that way too! One I can dream. Very difficult I tell you. Especially you want to buy it from an owner who is not selling. Or in contract that it is not to be a rink again. (one rink owner refuse to have it back as a rink and I forgot what rink was that one).
Anyway, sad news about the current owner of Route 66 Skates, it will turn into an event center. Like I said in past paragraph. Real sad. An end of an era.
Route 66 Skates just opened on Friday June 12, 2021. However, they ended skating on Friday August 27, 2021. That was quite sad. Real short.
Maybe they need to give it another chance. It was summer for goodness sake! It should have continued into the Fall and see what happens.. At least winertime! Well, If anyone wants to rescue and start as a rink again, have to make a real good offer that Pena, the owner of Route 66 Skates he cannot refuse. Only way.
The Interior.
The interior originally had the 1960s colors-- the Oranges and the Yellows. Peace! True groovy.. OK, back to reality talk. I would have loved that interior but the new one done by a muralist showed graffiti style. Can I hear record scratch? Maybe you can but I am Deaf. Yes, you would have heard that noise because I personally do not like graffiti. That is inviting the wrong crowd.
What I like the most out of that mural painting is the sign that is a rendering of the actual sign outside. It was partial "Vegas" style kind of sign displayed and
The Exterior.
It is a Free-Span Steel Truss Steel-Walled Warehouse - like Building with Gable roof on a 2.4100 acres. I do not know the original color(s) on the exterior but it ended with Snow-White walls with Red Fonts. It was pretty basic and sits right near Route 66 Mother Road. So, this rink should qualify as Amusement sector of Route 66. It is a must stop for Route 66 fans and skaters alike.
It had "Vegas" style sign that was displayed.
