Skate-O-Rama 303 S 7th St, Corsicana, TX.
This rink had the 1950s name ring to it. It has not much information but the building must be pretty much the same as the next occupied rink business, the X-treme Skate and Family Fun Center. The rink was closed around 1999 or 2000. And that was pretty much I have information regarding that rink based on an article from Corsicana Daily Sun, an online newspaper and print newspaper. The previous owner passed away. The owner, Ray Gay Roach of Nacogdoches, Texas was trying to sell the place.
Not much information and pictures of original rink however, using the X-treme Skate's pictures are posted. See more about X-treme here.
The building was quite unusual. Likely it was a barn because of its look. Quite high pitch gable roof and a silo is also on the same block perhaps 100 to 200 yards from it. It is red colored building. It looked so much of a barn. It has to be a barn rink, a rare type of skating rink business on a farm run by farmers.
The interior may have changed but more on that in X-treme Skate page. If not, it would have been all White walls and Patriotic Blue. All those colors represents as American colors.
A good question. Was the building originally a farm? It made sense it was a real barn because of the nature of the building on the roof. You should see in the photo of the building front on the roof it had two tube like parts on the roof as permanent section. It does look like a very long house without windows upon them. See photo. It sits next to a railroad track.
There is a highway you could not see in the photos. It is above the local city street where the rink building rests upon.
The building was just sold on August 24, 2020 according to Loop Net.
