Top logo courtesy of Skate City (of a national chain out of Colorado). Above logo courtesy of Skate City of Lake Charles, LA. Must be Skate City (of National chain) once had this property as a franchise but spin off or sold out and renamed by adding "of Lake Charles". Who knows. Both shown on Facebook. See that page before it is gone!
Courtesy of Four Square. Basic sign but a little clutter. The other part of the sign that is cut off below was a Mexican Restaurant sign which was in the same building.
Courtesy of Realtor. Outline of the property in yellow where blue shade is shaded in. In the rear, it is set of sheds and storage for trailer and vehicles. Some rinks do that as means to make extra money as many rinks have a hard time finanically.
Courtesy of 42 Floors. This was taken after they closed for good. The rink doors were on the left where the big lighted marquee is on the fake roof. The other doors you see that is boarded up as well was a Mexican restaurant. The design is quite similar to Roller Kingdom in Hammond.
Courtesy of Realtor. (I collected all 23 photos from there but a few selected are shown but also some were repeated by the realtor who posted twice by mistake I believe). Bottom showed DJ booth. Ah, old phone! Very 1980s look. Ah, 2 fans! No air conditioning? Must be hot in there. 1st photograph showed drone view of the property, you can see a small building on lower part of the photograph. Likely it may have been a ice cream stand. In photo 7, That has to be party "room" space. DJ booth in background of that photo.
Both photos above courtesy of Collin V. In her first photo above showed the rink in the BEFORE bounce houses were inflated toward the back of the rink on the rink and the AFTER bounce houses are inflated. You see it eats up the square footage of the rink itself. One thing interesting she took in the first photo showed the clock ghostly appeared in the photo! There is a Plexiglas but that's what was shown. Look at the floor in bottom half of the bottom photo above that showed unique design. It is a mix. Not perfect Fan or Log. It does show a Frame, Fan, and unique fan.
Six photos courtesy of Skate City of Lake Charles on Facebook. Was the floor leaning down to the left of the photographer back in 2010 tilted a bit? I think it was tilted. And wow, Those four photos were films, not digital! Good pictures for a film back in 2010! A true relic. The 4th picture you see in this series, you saw an orb (I found 2). Freak not, it is not paranormal. OK? Just go ask Jay at TAPS and he will chuckle and say it is dust. I would concur. Dusts are common at rinks or maybe flies.
Posts courtesy of Skate City of Lake Charles on Facebook. Announcement of closing was in September 28, 2018 and last skate was on Thursday October 18, 2018. Clearly it was sold.
Courtesy of Louisiana Lakeside Crossing company. The new rendering showed a smaller building than the old rink. May have torn down and rebuilt as this building. A chance to return to a rink at this location is zero. But as God say, nothing is impossible. To return as a rink, you would have to add the back to make it a new rink and if they torn down the free span truss, well, that is tough. Have to tear whole thing down and rebuilt again.

All one and the same: Skate City, Skate City Jump City, and Skate City of Lake Charles were on 4720 Nelson Road in Lake Charles, Louisiana. It started in 1984 however Bizapedia said they were registered as corporation on on November 6, 1985. Which is for real? I would rely on Bizapedia because that is the real registration date they got from because those are public records. But for Dun & Bradstreet, Brian S Guillory founded in 1999. Must be he bought out from someone else. Manta seems to agree with Dun & Bradstreet.
Who was the original owner?
The building was sold for a price I do not know. And after the rink closed in October, they remodeled it quickly and already about to open.
It was sold on November 7, 2018 for 2.1 Million USD. With renovation, that brings up to about 5 Million Dollars worth now. Too much!
The Interior.
The interior was a nice simple design that they had nice polished clear Maple wood floor. Beautiful floor with unique layout. It showed in phone photo which is most clear to me that I could ever find. It shows Fan layout but it also has Frame layout which means wood straight from corner to corner to corner, etc like a picture frame you have hanging up at your home or at your office or workplace. But also the Fan layout has unique layout. Hard to explain so you will need to see the photo above.
They did have for a time a Jump City which was part of Skate City of Lake Charles. That is a series of bounce houses / inflatables. Wall to wall in the back which ate up some skating rink floor. I understand rinks need businesses these days with bounce houses. I personally not like those in the way. It also can alienate adults from the rink but not always. Rink owners since 1980s have shifted from adults to teens and kids to skate. That is sad part.
It had Yellow and Gray theme which was a strong mix of colors. School Bus Yellow with Light Gray. Yellow on top as gray on the rest of the wall. It is good balance because of that strong color with bland color. Of course, there was Dark Blue which was also included. The gray had a hint of blue in it.
The Exterior.
It was a Free-Span Steel Truss Cinder-block-Walled and Dark Red Bricks front Storefront like Building. That appearance reminded me of Roller Kingdom in Hammond I just did a day ago. Same way they had those bricks, Similar Mansard Roof look on front but it was Gable roof. Now 2020 trendy 21st Century post modern all-glass shopping center. Very modernism. It is sad you hardly can see it was an old rink there. Was this also a franchise of Roller Kingdom at one point?
It had a pretty big property at 3.87 Acres with large grass yard in the back and they used it for storage of trailers and other things as means to make extra money.
There was a Mexican restaurant next door in the same building. Likely original was not there. Just the rink got smaller by giving up space to make it a restaurant there. My opinion.
It also had ice cream stand, a little red school-house like building with ramp to reach up to the counter.
The new building has made the building smaller at 12,345 Square Feet.
