Skate Capital 255 Old Salina Rd, Seneca, PA (was Seneca Skating Rink). Interesting! Those two things.. One is an actual traffic stop light and a lighted hand. Why have those two and what was the purpose? I never seen those at a rink like this. Is this for speed skating with the traffic stop light? And the hand for what? Courtesy of Skate Capital Facebook.
Skate Capital 255 Old Salina Rd, Seneca, PA (was Seneca Skating Rink). Count and goal? Wha tare they for? All three are quite interesting and bit unusual for any rinks. Courtesy of Skate Capital Facebook.
Skate Capital 255 Old Salina Rd, Seneca, PA (was Seneca Skating Rink).Sorry this was the only photo of the rink and it is blurred. Shaken. But that is history. Cannot photo now. See bottom photo why. But enjoy through those photos. I like those colors of Fire Engine Red, Yellow, Navy Blue and Snow White. Those are the Philippines colors! Well, almost. Both Seneca Skating Rink and Skate Capital used the same colors. Courtesy of Skate Capital Facebook.
Skate Capital 255 Old Salina Rd, Seneca, PA (was Seneca Skating Rink). This is interesting. Why it was arranged that way? What I love in this photo were 1970s wood panels Diagonal layout that was popular at the time. Courtesy of Skate Capital Facebook.

Skate Capital 255 Old Salina Rd, Seneca, PA (was Seneca Skating Rink). Another session. Noticed 1960s style round benches and Astroturf Green carpet. Was it actually Astroturf? If it was, it would be harder to skate on than just a Grass-Green colored standard carpet. Courtesy of Skate Capital Facebook.
Skate Capital 255 Old Salina Rd, Seneca, PA (was Seneca Skating Rink).Yummy, they had a cotton candy machine set up at the rink. I almost never seen one at a rink. Courtesy of Skate Capital Facebook.
Skate Capital 255 Old Salina Rd, Seneca, PA (was Seneca Skating Rink). Want to have some wings attached to your own skate? You sure can! This rink did and was selling for 5 USD. I am sure you can find some online and order some for your skate. If your rink does not have any, go ahead and ask them to order some so you can choose what you like. Be sure to show them this picture to see what you mean. Courtesy of Skate Capital Facebook.
Skate Capital 255 Old Salina Rd, Seneca, PA (was Seneca Skating Rink). It was a coupon. This looks like a casino chip card. Each color represents a purpose. This green card is one of many cards that are used for credit or even gift card I am sure of. See next one has different reason. Courtesy of Skate Capital Facebook.
Skate Capital 255 Old Salina Rd, Seneca, PA (was Seneca Skating Rink). This one is given away to students who brought in their report card showing As, and A+s and earn free skating pass to skate next time free. I remembered at Empire Skates, I earned 80 coupons because I am that smart. Used only for summer so during that summer of 1978 or 1979, I skated for free. Well, Skate Capital did the same for their skating patrons who did well in schools. Good job kids! Courtesy of Skate Capital Facebook.
Skate Capital 255 Old Salina Rd, Seneca, PA (was Seneca Skating Rink). I love pencils. Grew up with it and for my Drafting and illustrations.. Well, different kinds of pencils though. Anyway, love those colorful sets of pencils patrons can buy so they can write their notes and do homework. Courtesy of Skate Capital Facebook.
Skate Capital 255 Old Salina Rd, Seneca, PA (was Seneca Skating Rink). Ah! Looks like fun! You go in the inflated ball and wooo! You have to go right speed to be able to roll right or you will fumble inside. Skating rinks are ideal as well as gyms and stadiums can do this. Now, you can see beautiful rotunda rink floor. Courtesy of Skate Capital Facebook.
Skate Capital 255 Old Salina Rd, Seneca, PA (was Seneca Skating Rink). Ohh, I love those shirts! AND the logo! 1970s feel Hot rodding skate with monster truck tires and hot rod engine pipes like you have seen on funny cars racing, drag racing cars, and even the Boss Cat (Arctic Cat snowmobile drag racing sleds in the 1970s). Umm, you got in blue? No? Ok, I will take red one please in L size! Thank you! Courtesy of Skate Capital Facebook.

Skate Capital 255 Old Salina Rd, Seneca, PA (was Seneca Skating Rink). This was when it was Seneca Skating Rink. The rails were different than Skate Capital had. This geographic design on the rail reminded me of Dance-N-Skate which was Sports-O-Rama in Mattydale. It was on the back wall on the rink replacing then carpeted wall. Skate Capital 255 Old Salina Rd, Seneca, PA
Originally it was Seneca Skating Rink and later, it became Skate Capital which was at 255 Old Salina Road, Seneca, Pennsylvania. It ended with the fire on 17 of December 2022 because of a electrical fire. It was founded in 1989. Likely it was Seneca Skating Rink at the time according to Rink Time.
But in 2013, it became Skate Capital according to Buzzfile. It coincidence with Xome public records of sale transaction that it was sold in the same year.
Then that fire on 17 December 2022. I do not have much information about that facility since there was no website and only they have Facebook that ends with a post dated that same day.
The fire occurred when they finished a session and they all left to go eat or be back for the next session. I emailed them but I heard nothing back after I asked few questions.
According to Xome, the public record for the transaction of property sold was on 03 May 2013 for a good 370,000 USD. That was a good average real estate price for a roller rink at the time. I attempted to find out more updates on this rink but nothing. Same with Mr. Q Roller Rink that also had a fire in the same state in the same year. Just months earlier before Skate Capital had their fate. Both had accidental fires. Nothing criminal but just it seemly coincidence that both rinks had fires in same year in the same state. I know wha you are thinking. Arson? After reading both rinks' histories with fires during 2022 there is no connection.
According to Xome, the property is not for sale after that loss in the fire. Chrome search engine reported as "Temporarily closed." Are they going to come back? Renovate? I pray so with insurance to cover.
It appeared the rink has been totally abandoned because the management or operator did NOT update on Facebook after the fire. It cuts off after that day. Nothing on Facebook to announce that they even had a fire. None whatsoever. Why? Rink managements and operators usually DO announce that they had a fire and apologize profusely that they lost the place and unable to fullfill their scheduled events people reserved for the rink or skates they lost that their skaters left with the rink to hold. Things like that. Why not announce anything related to the fire?
The Interior.
Seneca Skating Rink:The floor was beautiful Rotunda with Hardwood Maple wood floor with Polyurethane coat. Clear coat of course.
The theme colors were the Philippines colors of Red, Navy Blue, and Gold. The half wall seen in that only photo I could find had pointing trianglaur shapes with very unique fancy font for the name fhe rink on one wall. Glad that was found and survived. Nowhere on the net I can find more. If you have any more color photos, please let me know.
Skate Capital: The floor continued this way till the fire. The half walls were painted into stripes with Red on bottom as middle yellow and the top of half wall and wall around were the Navy Blue. It was more colorful than the term under Seneca Skating Rink had.
The Exterior.
Seneca Skating Rink: I am not sure the color at the time but it was a Free-Span Steel Trusses Steel - Walled Warehouse - like Building with Gabled roof.
Skate Capital: Free-Span Steel Trusses Steel - Walled Warehouse - like Building with Gabled roof. The color was Sand tan color. They have Fire Engine Red section onthe side for main door entrance that does not look matching to the nice modern Steel Warehouse look. Wood red entry.. Brick would be best suitable but that was their building.

Dead Rinks is now International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© because many former names have become new names at the same rinks that are still active and due to much confusion, We have decided that International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© fits better for all rinks including defunct, closed, inactive, rebooted, and rinks that are still active today. For short on this site, it is International Roller Skating Rinks History© Bear with us as we change the entire site page by page each day. Thank you for understanding.

Rinks that are closed are considered dead. Rinks that are/were sold and with new management names new name(s), the former are considered dead. Previous operating rink that closed but came back years later, are considered dead because the reopening is considered rebooted, nothing to do with the former. Since we are rebooted to allow alive rinks, active rinks, we welcome those active rinks as well. It will be described.
