Sk8 City 4 Towne Center Court, Pooler, GA. This design is quite different and quite interesting form of graphic art. The symbol of city is represented here with the logo, Sk8 City with a set of splash and smears. It is quite form of Modern Pop Art here. Source: Sk8 City through Trip Advisor.

Sk8 City 4 Towne Center Court, Pooler, GA. Close up at night the rink logo and building lights were lit, Beautiful design. Love the logo and the architecture. It would and should be the 2010s design of the decade for a dead rink. Source: Sk8 City through Trip Advisor.

Sk8 City 4 Towne Center Court, Pooler, GA I love the geometry shapes on the colorful carpet. Pretty much colorful than black on there. And matched to the playground in the background! Source: Sk8 City.
Sk8 City 4 Towne Center Court, Pooler, GA I love the geometry shapes on the colorful carpet. Compared to the old carpet as seen in this one. Too dark and faded. The rink floor was painted standard Sky Blue on Concrete. Source: Yelp.

Sk8 City 4 Towne Center Court, Pooler, GA . Love the interior here. Black ceiling, bright bold colors, all very 2010s look. Still fresh into 2020 I might want to add. Source: Yelp.
Sk8 City 4 Towne Center Court, Pooler, GA This one is both sad and romantic. An older couple almost skated by themselves. Yes, there are a couple of other skaters there in background. But that image struck me. That is exactly how I see in rinks today that are losing skaters. Truly breaks my heart. Source: Trip Advisor.

Sk8 City 4 Towne Center Court, Pooler, GA
Sk8 City was a beautiful rink at 4 Towne Center Court in Pooler, Georgia that was recently closed in 2017. Mark Carpenter who owned the Savannah Skate Inn for a time till he sold it to someone else (please click link for further info) invested and operated as a General Manager Sk8 City briefly. This one Mark operated from October 5, 2012 to 2015 which was short. The investment group owned for a short time.
By the look of it, it was a beautiful rink thanks to groves of pictures on the net! But also architecturally on the outside! Beautiful! Matching to other entertainment venues in that area.
After it was closed, it became another bowling venue to compete against the other bowling venue right behind the former Sk8 City rink! Google Map showed me there are two different bowling venues. Why need a bowling alley when there are another bowling alley next door! It is like having a McD next door to Burger King! Awful! I learned in business 101 without college education that having a similar kind of business next door is going to stab you in the back for doing this. People will be bit confused on why you need to open a bowling alley when there is another one next door!
The name reminded me of another rink in Alabama that is called Gr8 Sk8. Very similar concept. Graffiti logo. Personally I am not crazy about Graffiti and texting names for Skate City. There is a Skate City chain based out of Colorado and they are pretty much almost everywhere in the United States. If copyrighted name as Sk8 City, it is alright not to confuse with that bigger competitor and for the local county courthouse or clerk office when you want to register the name. It has to spell differently slightly and explaining that to the county clerk office why you want to name it after she or he sees the other name. But I love the architecture both exterior and interior! That outweighed the logo because it showed more related to modernism.
It was even in 2014 that it began with some people (likely teens) said things to go to Sk8 City and it was to initiate a fight outside the rink that evening. People commented that after 3 people were arrested for fighting and violence, they were released to their parents. However, after this, people were saying they are not coming back. This might have hurt the attendance and this, the decline of the rink.
It reminded me of a local teen club in DeWitt, NY as I recalled hearing just within a hour or so 52 or 56 police and sheriff deputy cars arrived (about 1 to 2 officers/deputies per car) perhaps many as 100 law enforcement officers to arrive to break a fight there. This caused the teen dance club to close within a few months. Maybe two months. That cursed the place as each club, dance club, bar, and even a stripper club short lived there. Now that place is a big earth movers dealership which is still operational for more than 25 years now.
Security is hard when there are so many teenagers. Another rink faced similar fate in Virginia in December 2018.
Sorry to hear about that, Mark and the owners.
UPDATE! -- (16 May 2022).
I received an email and oh boy. There are issues I do not think it should be on here about this rink. It has to do with the manager. Not Mark and other owners.
Yes, he mentioned about the fights. But also about the building and about the new manager. That is all I am saying. For legal reasons, information is confidential. Thank you for understanding.
The Interior.
Of course, Concrete floor to skate in a good size rink with beautiful bold bright colors on the wall. About every color there is in the color spectrum and each section of the wall has a certain color. No complain in that because it really complimented one to the other then the other, on and on. I love the layout of this facility as I can see in photos. Even a mural on a wall. It does look great for this rink. Colorful, bold, and modern. Very clean look.
Even the half-walls are very sleek modern-contemporary look like something out of some office, church, or even McMansons some of you live in now or seen in your neighborhood. Wood on top, colorful clean walls with wood baseboards. Atypical rink would have cinder-block half-walls look. Was it cinder-blocks inside those walls? (See photos above).
The Exterior.
Truly a rare gem. Beautiful design. It was designed to match to competing entertainment centers next door. The Bowling and the IMAX theater complex. It was a Mix Modern because of the curved front corner where the main doors are, the Cubism paint that reminds you of Pablo Picasso Cubism. That is the expression I am seeing here and it is beautiful design that would rival this form with Skate Daze in Nebraska. Several shades of Blues squares with a line sort of zig zag in Pink. It gave that Miami/South Florida 1980s feel. This is Post-Modernism, not quite Googie's though. The feel is there yes but the style is not Googie's.
But the bowling alley had it painted to copy off McD, Burger King, Arby's, Wendy's...and many other fast food chain look of 2020s. Please, can you change colors, Premier Bowling! You made yourself look like those chains, please take a drive around town and you will see and you will want to change colors again!
