All photos courtesy of Saints Roller Rink Facebook Fan Page. Clever and creative marketing concept with the character beaming happy skating. But also the buttons and the cups when many old rinks of yesteryear had decals/stickers. And as for the cup, clever once again with the schedule on there so that the skaters can see and remember when they are open to run the rink. When Jerome purchased Saints, he changed the name AND the shirt on the mascot. Notice that in the picture wearing different shirt.
Saints Roller Rink, 2620 Miller Trunk Highway, Dulth, MN
Ridgewood Roller Rink, 2620 Miller Trunk Hwy., Duluth, MN
Originally, it was the Saints that ran at Miller Trunk Highway. I could not pinpoint exact location because Google Map pinpointed right in the middle of intersection. So, it is a good guess I do not know where but someone does know!
I got the address from Video Paradise and that is why. But they have awesome Facebook page dedicated to the Saints and Ridgewood.
I have more of views of the Saints than Ridgewood on their Facebook page you can see here.
I do not have any information of first opening and when it was sold to the manager of the Saints who changed the name to Ridgewood because there were/are other Saints rinks in Minnesota. Perhaps this Saints was owned by the same owner of other Saints. Usually are franchised.
I could not tell what floor they had on because most photos are teens in 1980s in the 80s photographs.
Of course, they had flat ceiling panels with a diamond ball and starburst lights with the ball in the middle. It had 1970s/80s wordings, "Fun on Wheels" that they had it on the wall with their mascot. Cute 1970s style mascot beaming big smile ear to ear.
They even had that on their coupon book that reminded me of Disney World rides tickets from the 1970s. I believe that kind of coupon book were popular back the day before a spread sheet style coupons you get in your Sunday morning newspaper back in 1980s to 2000s (and they still do that as inserts of weekly newspapers you may get.
It was different than Dine-A-Mate book would be but generally similar. See photos above.
There were wheels on the walls-all mural painted. Usually two toned colors. That was another common 1970s graphics back the day along with daisy flower graphics elsewhere.
Likely the floor was wood.
All I have was Jerome Arlen "Jerry" Webber in 1976 became a manager of the Saints rink and he bought the rink likely in 1980s and converted to the Ridgewood rink. Jerome and his wife, Laura purchased the rink and renamed it.
Unfortunately, I do not have exact location of the rink. Nice boulevard there they have though while I was searching for the rink. So, nothing much to say.
The exterior, however, had that steel sheet metal warehouse style building with entrance on one end. The fate of that building is perhaps has been torn down and that was it.
A sister dead rink is from Bloomington, MN
