Rock Springs Arena RR 3, Greensburg, PA
Rock Springs Roller Rink RR 3, Greensburg, Pennsylvania ran for many years. It was built in late 1920s by a man with a last name, Griffin, so, by 1930 and operated as a rink until it closed in 2010s. It would have celebrated as 100th Anniversary but the current owner neglect the shape of the rink with leakage and warped Maple wood floor.
After Griffin sold the rink, it was operated by Stanley Gamblin until 1957. Then Earl Leese, owner and operator from 1957 to 1986. Whitey Earl Leese said "But it had a perfect, level hardwood floor." Leese did a great deal of re-construction on the building, expanding each side and reconstructing the ground floor. Most of the interior is authentic. 1920s-1950s style. When Earl bought it, it was needed repairs in 1957. Earl repaired and renovated quite a bit that year.
Rock Springs Roller Rink sits at the bottom of a valley only one mile away from relative civilization. Of the surrounding area, As they say the area changed a lot, the rink remained the same. It is said true upon looking at the photos. At least exterior with skaters can see their rink.
Currently, I do not know what the fate for this rink that is falling apart. The current owner has not taken care of the rink.
In side note, in the1950s, it was used for voting center. Collected about 300 or so votes annually
This rink was also at one time called Rock Springs Arena. I am not sure who operated as Rock Springs Arena so I can put the proper years for that name of rink.
Many skaters on Facebook are heartbroken and really miss that rink and they even wanted to buy back. Well, they have a chance if the building is still there which is to start a GoFundMe and raise to double that amount. Why? The fees to that online donation company, income taxes, and the ever increasing real estate value. Maybe 300,000 USD would be suitable. This does not count toward repairs. You will need to add another 200,000 USD on top of that because of the floor is expensive now plus you need new roof. Both are most expensive. AND what is left, get a lawyer for landmark status application. Try that, patrons of Rock Springs Roller Rink.
Still, it would be nice to be purchased by the local skating community to reboot the rink.
The Interior.
I have no good photos of the interior. But said to be Maple Hardwood floor. Close to Wall to Wall size with Wooden Fence-like for a rail. It was Rustic theme inside. Remember, this is old fashioned countryside small roller rink in barn-like building. I have skated in one of those real-life barn turned to rink to demolished in Memphis, NY back in 1990. That would be Floss Roller Rink.
The Exterior.
It was a classic early 20th Century roller rink in more of a barn-like setting. Since it was in country side, the rink was set in a valley. It was on a listed land with downgrade toward the right when you look at the front of the building.
In the front, there was a triple set of plane windows at one time. Open and closed and all. This time, you can see the shape of windows but its all boarded up.

Dead Rinks is now International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© because many former names have become new names at the same rinks that are still active and due to much confusion, We have decided that International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© fits better for all rinks including defunct, closed, inactive, rebooted, and rinks that are still active today. For short on this site, it is International Roller Skating Rinks History© Bear with us as we change the entire site page by page each day. Thank you for understanding.

Rinks that are closed are considered dead. Rinks that are/were sold and with new management names new name(s), the former are considered dead. Previous operating rink that closed but came back years later, are considered dead because the reopening is considered rebooted, nothing to do with the former. Since we are rebooted to allow alive rinks, active rinks, we welcome those active rinks as well. It will be described.
As for “For Office Only” is for my reasoning and private legal reason for that.
