All courtesy of Google Map. All taken in April 2013. This was perhaps about to close up. What was that black pole doing down? Did someone knock it down or what? See the close up of how it appeared with the canopy. Oh, it was parking lot light! Minus the lights. it was taken out.
Mega Skate 1678 S Wilson Dam Hwy, Muscle Shoals, AL
Mega Skate was a sister rink at 1678 S Wilson Dam Hwy, Muscle Shoals, Alabama. The other was being at Albertville, Alabama location. See here. You will find that it had other names as well. But this one was focusly on Mega Skate. it opened in 1990 only to be closed in 2013. Loop Net listed this property on December 17, 2015. Now they are closed for good.
This facility had very unique design. It was modest though. But nevertheless, they went modernism. The front had the appearance like it had a Cross-Gable Roof design. But it was not. It was a faux Cross-Gable. It was straight Gable roof building design with that facade "cutouts" of a Gable of different color than the rest of the building. The rest was Metallic Gray but the facade was Industrial Blue. with colorful Barrel-shaped Arch with colorful ceiling to match outside arch. I think light can penetrate through those colorful awing. It was very modern and creative of them because that is a rarity at any rinks today. This should be contender for "Dead-Rinks Design Award for Exterior." That creativity is good.
The parking lot too was good layout. But looks like someone knock down that black pole. It was a light pole. You can see that on Loop Net.
Now the property is a furniture store.
