Dimond Roller Rink 3245 Fruitvale Ave, Oakland, CA
Dimond Roller Rink was located at 3245 Fruitvale Avenue, in Oakland, California. That was another rink in the Greater Bay Area. The name spelled correctly, OK, Mr. Monk? Not Diamond, Dimond Roller Rink. It first opened on 21 October 1939. Unfortunately, the federal, state, county, and Oakland governments all decided to have a 82-mile-long Interstate 580 or known as MacArthur Freeway to run through the property where the Dimond Roller Rink was. It was on Fruitvale Avenue.
The grand opening they had on 21 October 1939 was a gala type. They had 4 different skating show, plus all different segments to skate such as all skates, couples only, women only, etc.
It was demolished sometimes after 1955, likely by 1960 because of the I-580 or known as General MacArthur Freeway. It was planned by 1955 to be cut through that neighborhood according to Kurumi website on highways.
