Top two courtesy of Google Map. January 2008 followed by April 2013. No newer photos than 2013. Now all gray! Yuck. Whatever happened to colors!?
Originally courtesy of Google Map. This is an attempt to fix the sign that Google Map loves to wipe out names. Big mistake, Google! Why? Customers ever since uses your Google Map to find the place of businesses so they can go there! If you blur out, you are doing more harm than good.
5 photos courtesy of Skate Palace. Wow! What a rink! I recommend YOU and your friends to go there! The exterior.. meh but the interior is one of the best. Very creative! Beyond the 1990s graffiti look that we all need to avoid encouraging gangs from going there. This truly exhibit as 2020s look. Are other rinks going to look like this? Better be! They have other walls that looked just like those video games. One showing Pac-Man and others different video games look. Quite interesting for this rink. I would rank 10 out of 10. No Captain Marvel (DC verison)? Aww, shucks! Haha.
Cairo Skating Center 21 20th St NE, Cairo, GA
Roll-A-Rink 21 20th ST. NE, Cairo, GA
Skate Towne of Cairo 21 20th ST. NE, Cairo, GA
Skate Palace 21 20th ST. NE, Cairo, GA (Current Operating)
Roll-A-Rink 21 20th ST. NE, Cairo, GA
Skate Towne of Cairo 21 20th ST. NE, Cairo, GA
Skate Palace 21 20th ST. NE, Cairo, GA (Current Operating)
Those three different names were used at the current location of Skate Palace on 21 20th Street Northeast in Cairo, GA, not Egypt. Thank you very much for noting that.
As I am digging through for information for each rink. I am seeing a lot of Cairo Skating Center online next to Skate Palace in numbers. Nothing so far for Roll-A-Rink and Skate Towne of Cairo. I assume the latter two were the names before Cairo Skating Center and the current Skate Palace.
As for Skate Towne of Cairo, the owner was Homer Meredith. he founded this rink in 1992 according to Rink Time. but in Manta, it said year 2000. Confusion!
This really conflicted because Skate Palace said they have been around for 40 years. 2020 minus 40 is what? 1980! I think Skate Palace is talking about the rink itself is 40 years old, not the business. Three businesses came and went. So likely Skate Palace replaced Skate Towne of Cairo.
Skate Towne was a sister rink to Skate Towne of Bainbridge in Bainbridge, GA.
I believe Roll-A-Rink had a sister rink which is also Doug's Roll-A-Rink (still operational) at Thomasville, GA.
Since I have no information in order of successors in chronological order, leave at that part out.
The Interior.
I do not have any photos of the past but more so with Skate Palace. Currently it is very modern with poured Concrete floor that you have to step down to the rink. That is something I dislike. I prefer smoothly flat. Not step down. The floor apparently is painted Blue Polyurethane coated and really glossy that reflex well from the walls! yes, reflexive neon colors from the carpets are on the rink floor! Really reflexive. It has very modern European-Asian lighting design that showed much of that a big departure from 1970s Disco ball and strobe lights. A lot of tube lights in LED format. It does feel very Euro-Asian feel.
The carpet is quite busy everywhere and the arrangement is well balanced than sectional repeative totally unlike Dazzles (of both locations). This is well organized design as I can see in the photo. Unfortunately, too much people and I did not want to include those photos in here. The game area and snack bar as well as indoor playground are bright because of bright Neon Green wall around that area. They do have decorative cinder blocks for rails, walls, etc. It has vertical grooves on the blocks. It makes it more characteristic. This is well executed design. Good job Skate Palace!
The Exterior.
Free Span Steel Truss Steel Walled Warehouse- like Building with Gable roof. It is currently painted in Dark Blue with the logo of Skate Palace. Before that, it was medium Gray color after 2008. Before that, it was same but had Green of sort trims with the Gray.
