Courtesy of Skate Log/ Jo Ann Schnieder Farris. The sign for the rink. Unfortunately, it was a bad location to take pic because you cannot see the name on top of the sign!
Courtesy of Google Map. Top was taken in 2007 as bottom taken in 2014. Sadly not just the rink is gone, BB Countertops is gone too. They did not last long (they were there from 2006 to before 2014). To the right is the bowling alley. It is presently a medical center.
Bosanova Roller Skating Center 2903 N Prospect St, Colorado Springs, CO
Bosanova Roller Skating Center was on 2903 N Prospect St, Colorado Springs, CO. This was the second location of Bosanova or Bossanova rink in the state. The other was being Bosa Nova in Pueblo, CO which also closed.
The rink was built in 1966 and closed for good in 2003/4.
It won Silver for best rinks in area at the time.
It was located perfectly because of the bowling center cross the street easily.
The Interior.
It was a 19,000 Square Foot roller rink. It had Maple wood floor.
The Exterior.
The Google Map is quite explanation regarding the building. It was a Gable building with flat front roof which brought us to the style of the 50s/60s that this rink actually was built in 1966, the middle of the 60s. It had that Flat roof front to give the style of the 50s/60s for the building with some walls as all stone, remains were wood front but sides were cinder-block built.
The Stats:
Rink Size: N/A Floor: Maple, clear coated. Floor Layout: N/A
Building Size: 19,000 SF Built: 1966 Demolished: Still standing.
Type of Building: Free Span Steel Storefront style Building. Rest are built with Cinder-blocks but the entry door has stone veneer and Mustard Yellow Wood wall.
Roof: Gable with Flat 1950s style roof extension/canopy.
Acres: N/A
Operated: 1966 to 2003 (some says 2004).
Reason for Closure: N/A (seem at the same time as the other Bosanova that closed. Perhaps owner passed away and family had to sell the rinks for tax purposes? Just only an educated guess).
Wanted: Information regarding photos, exact dates, why closed?
