Beers Roller Rink Inc. and later, Wysox Roller Rink, Inc. were on Old Route 6 Road, Towanda, PA
Beers Roller Rink which was opened by the elder Wilbur Beers and his wife Miriam in the late 1940s, occupying the site of the former Arthur & Goodrich Garage. The younger Wilbur met his future wife, Beverly Ingerick, there at the roller rink in the 1940s, marrying her in February 1948.
Date of opening was unknown. But the elder Wilbur Beers opened the rink in the late 1940s.
It was with the passing of the elder Wilbur Beers in 1962 that the son, Wilbur and his wife, Beverly started taking over the operation of Beers Roller Rink, that they ran until the 1990s, when his grandson Rob and his wife Stacy took over for a short period of time. The rink had one final night of skating on Sunday, 27 Nov. 2009 when the last call for "Clear The Floor" music was aired. That song is a line dance song.
Yes, the rink suffer flooding. Twice. Wilbur stood at the front door of the roller rink, using a broom to keep water pushed into the parking lot by passing motorists during the 1972 flood from ever reaching the precious hardwood Maple floor.
In 2011, a flash flood quickly overran the property, reaching a foot deep in the old roller rink, which is now a four wheeler and recreational vehicle dealership.
Exact location is unknown because of no street number. I was unable to find on the map. Second of all, the Old Route 6 is merely a block long! There is a garage but that is not the one we are looking for if you were to attempt to find on Google Map.
Side Note:
Wilber Beers (Junior) was a jack of all trades, entrepreneur, Bus Driver, and was involved in committees, politics, you name it. He owned the roller rink, car dealership, school bus company and drove school buses. His wife drove buses too and operated every business he was involved that moment each day. Taking turns of duties. He was also members of the Freemasons, lodges, Shriners, you name it.
The Interior.
Unable to find photo of the interior, the floor was indeed Hardwood Maple since the articles online mentioned that.
The Exterior.
By the look of that only photo I can find for now, the bird's view of the rink was house-like structure that has kind of a Combination of Salt-Box with Wrapped Dutch Roof. First the wall was Chocolate Brown then the wall appeared to be Red. as you can see in the photos. Their diner was also right next door to the rink. Rarely rinks have such a combination of a diner and roller rink under same roof. Another rink like this was the former Bilou rink in Fulton, New York.

Some states allow purple paint on fence which means they even have guns on their property and have rights to shoot you. Please DO NOT attempt to enter property without permission!
For abandoned rinks, after you receive permission, do WEAR safety OSHA equipment including a safety glasses, pair of safety gloves, an orange vest or a jacket, and a construction helmet.
Thank you for understanding.
Dead Rinks is now International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© because many former names have become new names at the same rinks that are still active and due to much confusion, We have decided that International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© fits better for all rinks including defunct, closed, inactive, rebooted, and rinks that are still active today. For short on this site, it is International Roller Skating Rinks History© Bear with us as we change the entire site page by page each day. Thank you for understanding.
Second of all: The contents including words and photos above on this page and/or on any pages are purely educational entertainment purposes only. I provide what information from other websites, skaters, and operators and it may end up with different results between two (or more) sources. It is not our responsible for errors we caused. All sources are shown on each page. All opinions and statements of mine are also stated and are for purely educational entertainment only.
Rinks that are closed are considered dead. Rinks that are/were sold and with new management names new name(s), the former are considered dead. Previous operating rink that closed but came back years later, are considered dead because the reopening is considered rebooted, nothing to do with the former. Since we are rebooted to allow alive rinks, active rinks, we welcome those active rinks as well. It will be described.
As for “For Office Only” is for my reasoning and private legal reason for that.
