Bilou Roller Rink 1804 State Route 3, Fulton, NY. Noticed the snack bar has all sodas and water bottle right on the counter? Usually fast food restaurants, rink conession stands would not have drinks on counter like that. Usually one each. Source: Bilou Roller Skating Rink Facebook page.

Bilou Roller Rink 1804 State Route 3, Fulton, NY. Skate rental. I am not liking the colors. Too dakr and the lines and the X appeared to me that a certain spot you cannot enter! So silly! Source: Bilou Roller Skating Rink Facebook page.
Bilou Roller Rink 1804 State Route 3, Fulton, NY. This was taken in 2015. I like this better than the newer paint colors. It pops more for the name. And of course, Blue stripes instead of Blacklight Red. But I am not crazy about the font at all. Source: Bilou Roller Skating Rink Facebook page.

Bilou Roller Rink 1804 State Route 3, Fulton, NY. Taken with lights off and show only disco color lights. Bit grainy photo though. Reminds me of 1980s Kodak photographs and a TV show called, Night Heat which was grainy also (on purpose that Sonny Grosso wanted the series to have) It gave more of a mystery here. Bilou Roller Rink 1804 State Route 3, Fulton, NY. I believe this is a memorial for someone passed away as seen on the rink's Facebook photo gallery. It has no description at all. This is actually beautiful "art" here. Anyone know about this? Source: Bilou Roller Skating Rink Facebook page.
Bilou Roller Rink 1804 State Route 3, Fulton, NY
Since 1972, Bilou Roller Rink 1804 State Route 3, Fulton, NY was operating until they closed on Saturday night 26 of March 2022.
This rink was started and operated by an operator who ran for a while until another purchased it then in 2014 or 2015, it was sold again to the final operator.
This rink was evaluated by Dead-Rinks. The score was pretty low though. 3.9 wheels out of 10 wheels.
That is sad because of the operator/manager behaved toward his customers and me as well how the place was. Please see here: Bilou Roller Skating Rink Evaluation.
Now it will become a gym in 2022.
The Interior.
The interior has Fan-layout non-painted Hardwood Maple floor. The size of the rink itself is unknown however, medium large as I recalled skating there.
The walls were painted through the years as I can tell because they first opened in 1971. However, no photographs are known for that time. However, before 2016, they had Black fonts for the name of the rink in back wall and very much White and Orange color here and there. The colors may be in reference to a certain local university in Syracuse, New York which has the color-- Orange!
The rest of the wall were in stripes and I love that part. But the font for the name of the rink and the G's and the B's (Girl's and Boy's respectively) by the bathrooms. That is a little confusion with the letters for the bathroom for some. And the style of the font looked bit wicked style. I cannot pinpoint what style though. It looked cross between a horrior style and a graffafi style. A little close to Degrassi (TV Series) font based on the 1989 to 1991 version of the series before they became more cleaner and easier fonts. However, not fully 1989 Degrassi though. "Close but no cigar" as they say.
Funny thing is that Bilou Roller Skating Rink is merely about 5 hours drive to Toronto where Degrassi was filmed or to be filmed (yes, Degrassi is back after a 6 years haitus to be aired in 2023 on HBO Max).
The front where you enter is on the left but as you walk in, the admission is on the right but at the time I was there (final skate and evaluation for me was in Spring 2020), the admission was on a white folding table! Just a money box and ticket. When I came in, put the skates on table. He looked very serious and not friendly. Sad. And I gave him my 20 Dollars for admisison, he had to reach his pocket for a change which is odd not using his money box!
Behind him is the picnic tables all made of wood. And can be movable. On the front wall, you see it is office then conession stand in middle and on the left as you look at that wall is the skate rental. As you turn left.. you see the arcade games. then the wood rink floor with cinderblocks rails. Only one part to enter/exit the rink was between where the arcade was and the picnic tables. The bathrooms as you can see in the photo. The exit front door when I was there was completely blocked with items which was fire code violations. All exits are required to cleared of debries. You do not want another Cocoanut Grove Fire or even the Station Night Club Fire in Rhodes Island. Even emergency exits were in fact chained! That sounded like another infamous fire-- the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire that occurred in New York City. (Also see here: OSHA)
This rink was just standard.
Next door was part of the rink although separate entry and separated business called Bilou Breakfast House, a diner that was opened for a certain time. Usually not at the same time as the roller rink.
That they closed too along with the rink.
The interior for the Breakfast House was very plain diner-like. Narrow like a traincar diner type.
The Exterior.
The building was a reversed L shaped building. More like a boomering shaped or a Chevron shaped. The diner was narrow but the length was parallel to the road but the rink was long toward the back. You can see that in photos. The material was mixed on the building including Bricks, mutli-color Steel Walled building Gabled building. Both the diner and the rink were Gabled.
The walls were multi-colored stripes of Fading Black and White.
Side note-- Walmart store is behind the Bilou Roller Skating Rink in Northwest part of Fulton. There is a fanastic ice cream shop just down the road south of the rink and on the same road, if you keep going, is the Sterling Renaissiance Festival. Aye, miladys and lords! (I was performer/supervisor at the interactive performance festival. The only true Elizabethian/Shakespearian English Renaissiance Festival in America.)
