Brick Ice & Roller Forum 1686 NJ-88. Bricktown, NJ was the original name before America On Wheels purchased the place in the summer of 1980 according to Billboard on 18 October 1980, page 33, 5th Column. It was named changed to Brick Roller Forum to get rid of ice rink since America on Wheels focus only on roller skating rinks. (Why did not they start a division America on Ice rinks since today they are over 8,000 ICE rinks-- the same number of roller rinks from around Mid-20th Century! Sadly there are 720 roller rink as of July 2022. This is my opinion).
They should have done something. I would echo, SAVE THE RINK! SAVE THE RINK! Ok, I am not the clock tower lady, ok? Haha. Sorry for the pun and fun. Back to seriousness here...
Richard Jones managed this rink. He is the same man who managed and owned Eatontown rink.
Because of AOW purchased Brick, Richard was promoted to general manager of shore rinks which was both Eatontown and Brick. Again, from the same Billboard magazine.
Richard or anyone know about Brick Ice and Roller Forum BEFORE America on Wheels purchased the rink? How long did that one operated?
A few dual rinks including Brick were All-Weather Roll 'N' Ice in Long Island, and the Bus Stop in Ohio. I am sure there are a few more I must have missed out. Anyone? This format is quite rare to have both.
I would love to see Roller Skating and Ice Skating both get along and "marry"! What I mean is that they should set up to work together and get Roller Skating into the Olympics. Instead Roller Skating is part of the World Games. A competing Olympic games organization. It is sad how I saw on Facebook video of the games yesterday.. that is another story another time.
Richard opened this rink in 1980. and closed in 1987.
The rink was at a dead end. The neighborhood is beautiful really because of thick trees there. The downside of that it is difficult for new prospects to look for this or that business. It is necessary to have a good exposure signage and not to go out of business. Already four businesses in that building went out of business since 1980.
Needs more information! Please review the stats below and reply back to us at Dead-Rinks.
After the pool company shut down the entire branches and gone out of business, they closed this former rink facility and sold the building to the fitness for a huge price of 4.1 Million USD. Way too much money.
Yes, I said that because the cost included likely the swimming pool. And this is in New Jersey.. Made sense with the cost.
The fitness center original name was Meridian Fitness and Wellness then shortly after, it became Tilton Fitness.
Currently, the 9,600 Square Feet are occupied by other business tenants.
The Interior.
Brick Ice & Roller Forum: They originally had smaller rinks.. both Roller and Ice rinks in this 39,000 Square Feet facility. I will find out the sizes, everyone. From the look of it, it appeared to be maybe 14,000 Square Feet each.
America On Wheels Brick Roller Forum: AOW changed the facility from a Dual Rink facility to mono-rink facility. This means removal of ice rink. They expanded the size of the rink and added birthday party rooms. They said it was one of largest in New Jersey.
Brick Roller Forum: See above.
Bricktown: See above.
Branch Brook Company: After the rink was removed, the new owners changed into a swimming pool retail facility. I saw an indoor swimming pool so maybe they put in a swimming pool but not sure. They were a store selling swimming pools and spas.
Tilton Fitness Brick: They renovated in 2015 into a nice state-of-art facility interior-wise and it showed very clean modern facility. The interior showed Post-Googie Post-Memphis Group interior design. And yes, a swimming pool included. Since I do not know where the roller rink was, ice rink was, so I have no idea where the pool was plus other things they had.
Note- there is, however, another business that is still running but I have no idea what it is thanks to bleached Google Map taken in 2020.

Thank you for understanding.
Dead Rinks is now International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© because many former names have become new names at the same rinks that are still active and due to much confusion, We have decided that International Roller Skating Rinks History Foundation© fits better for all rinks including defunct, closed, inactive, rebooted, and rinks that are still active today. For short on this site, it is International Roller Skating Rinks History© Bear with us as we change the entire site page by page each day. Thank you for understanding.
Second of all: The contents including words and photos above on this page and/or on any pages are purely educational entertainment purposes only. I provide what information from other websites, skaters, and operators and it may end up with different results between two (or more) sources. It is not our responsible for errors we caused. Rinks that are closed are considered dead. Rinks that are/were sold and with new management names new name(s), the former are considered dead. Previous operating rink that closed but came back years later, are considered dead because the reopening is considered rebooted, nothing to do with the former. Since we are rebooted to allow alive rinks, active rinks, we welcome those active rinks as well. It will be described.
As for “For Office Only” is for my reasoning and private legal reason for that.
