Google Map. Noticed with top view how the shape of the rink was and the building size at the time? That is sad how the floor has become! All cracked!
Skateland USA 1415 Avenue M, Fort Madison, IA
Kenny's Skateland 1415 Avenue M, Fort Madison, IA
Skateland USA was very common name for this rink but it was a Kenny Hart owned rink in Fort Madison, the very same who owned Kenny's Skate Ranch in another town. (Please note that the links will lead to Sandy's which was a Sandy's before that Kenny's that is still operational.
However, this page is about Skateland USA and former Kenny's Skateland which was named after the then former owner of Skateland USA! Nice of Tim Barraclough. You see, Kenny started Skateland USA then sold to Tim and his family and then Tim renamed it as kenny's Skateland.
The Barraclough bought it in 2001. Not long after that, I see on Google Map, it is a donation center with exposed rink surface that is all cracked. That concrete floor really cracked compared to the concrete sidewalk next to it that it looks beautifully and fine with a car parking on it! That rink used to be indoors but somehow or somewhat, it is all open. I wonder what happened to that rink and why it is all exposed outside? Anyone know?
I might have to email to Tim but cannot always get answers from creditors or sources I email every day. maybe once a week I get a reply out of a dozen emails I send out.
There are no photos. Just the thrift store's donation building which appeared to be remodeled big time and you cannot tell about the former rink appearance. So, I have none to describe.
The Interior.
It was concrete floor in Light Blue coat on it however, Tim B. said it was covered in wood according to an article. It is conflicting report. Anyone?
The Exterior.
Likely it was a gable building in a Free-Span Steel Warehouse building type because the donation center may have kept the front part of the building off the rink. The rink part may have had higher ceiling clearance.
