Woodside Roller Rink 13963 PA-75 S., Honey Grove, PA. You can see it is quite empty, no name of the rink as it was shown in Source: Google.
Woodside Roller Rink 13963 PA-75 S., Honey Grove, PA. The condition looks too good for a 60 to 70 years old matchbook. eBay said it was 1960s. From what I see, art work, more like 1950s but the age of it is too new like. It would be a fake. Source: eBay.
Woodside Roller Rink 13963 PA-75 S., Honey Grove, PA
Once, it was a rink called Woodside Roller Rink on 13963 PA-75 South. in Honey Grove, Pennsylvania. There is a mixed report on this rink that Yelp has reported closed permanently by skaters. But Google says Temporarily. Which is correct?
Well, going back to 1992 when they first opened according to Dun & Bradstreet however there was a matchbook which appeared to be maybe 1950s. Maybe earlier however, by inspecting the matchbook itself through eBay, it is a reproduction. Why? It looked too perfect. Printing back then usually a lot of imperfections and how much bleed. Today they have better printing system including laser printing which has no bleed and sharper images of fonts, and art work. I am showing the matchbook anyway for you to judge.
If this rink was recently operated, how come nothing ever found on the net? According to Google, no Facebook, nothing else.
What is quite interesting is that this rink sits way out the countryside. Thick woods around, grasses. A few rinks were like that. I have been to one like this. Many I have profiled on Dead-Rinks. 2 of them are listed in NYS, one in Florida, oh you just have to find them on Dead-Rinks.
It was hidden behind the State land where it is thick forest. Since geographical formation of Pennsylvania, the land especially mountains are curved or arched, most roads are built that way as well such as Interstate-81. The rink is not that far from Harrisburg.
John C. Schlusser and his wife, Ruby Schlusser co owned and operated the rink. They may have owned and operated in the more recent times since 1992. The ones before 1992 are unknown. Anyone?
The Interior.
Likely they had Maple wood or similar for the rink floor considering the place.
No photographs are known. Sorry. Anyone?
The Exterior.
It looked very plan two different parts of the buildings. It is shaped like an L. The bottom part of the L that parallels with the road is the front door and the Gabled roof part of the building as housing. Someone lives there. Usually that would be the operator of the rink lives there.
The main building is also Gabled. It is Cinderblocks-walled Warehouse-like building with Free-Span Steel or might be wood Trusses. It is all painted White right now. It might have been different colors. The front door is now White to camouflages the doors.
Beautiful scenery around. This is good for a drive by but please, it is a PRIVATE PROPERTY.

Rinks that are closed are considered dead. Rinks that are/were sold and with new management names new name(s), the former are considered dead. Previous operating rink that closed but came back years later, are considered dead because the reopening is considered rebooted, nothing to do with the former.
As for “For Office Only” is for my reasoning and private legal reason for that.
