All courtesy of The Spectrum & Daily News. Sorry, they were all in B/W photos. It was made for newspapers back then that they took in B/W for better printing in black ink. Top photo showed the owners/managers. It did not have any description about them and no article at all! Just show the pictures. This is strange website I tell you. This was about Whirlybird Skate Center. I have no photos for Outer Limits Skate Center.
Google Map. This was the location where Outer Limits /Whirlybird Skate Center was located. It is currently a series of stores related to home improvement.
Whirlybird Skate Center 1301 West Sunset Boulevard, St. George, UT
Outer Limits Skate Center 1301 West Sunset Boulevard, St. George, UT
Outer Limits Skate Center 1301 West Sunset Boulevard, St. George, UT
Both rinks were in same location according to an old list but no information especially for Outer Limits Skate Center in Saint George, Utah. Unfortunately, I could not do much but have tons of photos found on Spectrum & Daily News. This is strange because there are no article related to those slides on the same website as Whirlybird Skate Center. I assume those two ladies in those photos were owners/managers. Those were taken in 1992 according to that website. It did appeared a nice rink. Sadly, both are gone.
Likely Outer Limits Skate Center came around first then the Whirlybird Skate Center. They must have folded around end of 1990s.
I have no idea why they closed. I do not even have street at all. Anyone know where this was? This would be huge help because when I do search, with address, it can open up more information on the net. Even including Google Map, Mapquest, real estate websites, come on.
UPDATE--
I got the Outer Limits reason for closure. It was because of the insurance increase and the deductible was a thousand dollars. It was getting expensive so they could not afford so they had to close it. (source-- a Skating Fan who got it from Operator of Outer Limits which was Mark Thornton.
A website said Mark Thornton registered his business on Feb 24,1994.
Those photos I see were Black and Whites. No colors. It did appear to be from a newspaper. I am not sure.
The Interior.
It appeared to be Maple wood which is very hard to see in the Black and White photos. The rink appeared to be long.
The Exterior.
N/A due to no exterior photos and no address to be found. Anyone? Photos?
