Originally opened in 1980 as Whirls of Fun Skate Center which was on 3101 Lorraine Street North, Hutchinson, Kansas. This rink eventually changed its name perhaps around 1990s because I have as late as 1992 for the original name. After that, it became Skateland Family Fun Center. Skateland Family Fun Center is still operational. Has beautiful wood floor painted white with Polyurethane coat and starburst lights on ceiling with mirror ball.
The Interior.
It is Maple floor on roller rink with White painted thick Polyurethane coat on. Has two starburst lights and mirror balls. Some of the classics were on the ceiling, of course.
It has that white walls in background and in fact, mirrors. It makes the rink long longer than really is. You can see that in the photograph.
The Exterior.
Flat roofed Free-Span Steel Truss Cinderblock-Walled Warehouse - like Building. It does give that 1970s look. Did the rink really open way before 1979? Anybody? God knows but you can help out!
