All 4 courtesy of Google Map. Top three were taken in 2013 while the bottom was taken in November 2019. Huge transformation and its beautiful color and looks good on this building. La Patinoire-The Rink added a new entrance on the side as you can see the canopy. That is new doors there now. If converting back to the rink... those doors will have to be removed and hated to see the scar of former doors. OUCH.
Photos courtesy of Skooter Gee's Skating Rink. Wow, a movie screen! What was that playing? They also had billiards, video games, and more. I believe Skooter Gee's had Purple and Yellow colors on walls and posts but they painted in Cream and Black, the Greying of America look. Is that white carpet I am seeing? Very spacious eating area and snack bar. Huge change from the older version in 2012 that had billiard tables and different wall colors... The benches in Orange and Yellow signal that it was from 1970s. I like one thing though that it does give that spacious feeling and it is a plus because of space, and it would be perfect in post COVID world. Too bad, they are gone and now its a wedding venues. You should check many photos on Facebook regarding that.
Courtesy of KelE Champagne. YouTube video of the rink. Real short and fast showing though. Repeat if you have to watch to catch it all!

Those two rink businesses were at 256 Horseshoe Road in Schriever, LA. Apparently the name of the street did not even bring good luck to the rinks to last forever. Nothing does except for one thing. That is an another subject another place and time.
Wheels-R-Rollin or spells as Wheels "R" Rollin Skate Center were around since July 28, 1980 according to Open Corporate website. The building looked like it was built in late 1970s. They opened that rink at the height of Roller Disco Era and survived the downturn and one more up swing. 7 years cycle of the swing of skating eras.
Wheels-R-Rollin was built in the ’70s by the Aquillard family. Their reason for selling is unknown and sold it to Gerard Clement who owned Skooter Gee's Skating Rink. Kat Whitecotton, an assistant manager at Scooter Gee’s. So was Tracie Nelton who was also former assistant manager.
But 30 years later, it became Skooter Gee's Skating Rink which even did not last long. It lasted 4 years right into 2014 according to Facebook and other sources that they are closed that year. Real sad.
In Google Map, I see people living there with their RV, boat, and a propane powered forklift parked in 2013 but the 2019 showed it is another business now. No one living there. It is now La Patinoire -THE RINK. It is an event center now. Many rinks have been sold to become an event center. What a beautiful facility inside! Wow! Floor is still there! I am sure its kind of the current owner because if owner wants to sell... you can buy it and converted back to the new 4th generation rink or 3rd because the La Patinoire is not really a skating rink per se. It is a memory name. Like The Rink shopping center in New Orleans. Any of you locals in the area, I recommend the La Patinoire - THE RINK for your future parties and wedding and reception there. I give that venue center 5 out of 5. It is beautiful, clean, and modern inside and hey, you can even get married outside! Awesome! Check it out on their Facebook for photos and details.
The Interior.
Besides the rink, it does have a residence on location as well. Two car garages, front door, and side door. But the rink door is on the side which is odd because of the style of the building. The front of the rink should be in the front but from Google Map, it appeared to be on side because of the residential area that they have their vehicles, a motorhome, and a what!? A propane powered forklift on site. So, you know the rink is more toward the back behind the residential section of the building.
It had Maple floor constructed in layout style of Log Cabin. It had diamond ball in center with 4 star burst lights on ceiling.
The wedding and party venue changed the interior entirely but kept the Maple floor. It is beautiful inside now.
The Exterior.
1970s appearance of a cinder-block built with a fake Mansard front section roof that is actually a flat roof for rest of the Free-Span Steel Truss Cinder-block Store-front Building. The front wall appeared to be Van Gogh or Spanish Yellow. And the roof part was Rustic Red. With a hint of Forest Green stripe around on top wall. The side is just plain color.
But La Patinoire - THE RINK changed the exterior to make it look more professional. They painted the roof, the walls. Looked more modern colors and of course, the Greying of America era with the gray colors. One looks Warm Gray and other Cool Gray. Medium hues. It does look better and nicer. I love it.
