Wheel-A-While, 24 States Ave., Dickinson, ND
This is a sister rink to the one in Bismarck, North Dakota. It was opened in 1978. According to a website, it gave a different address street (West Villard Street). However, it is correct that it was on States Ave NEAR the corner of West Villard AT States Ave. I received the address from other sources that list former rinks with the address as 38 States Ave. That is wrong. Correct (hopefully) is the 24 States Ave because I looked up for Pizza Hut which is right next door (a former Hardee's as I can tell with the architecture.)
The rink had Gable roof with Steel sheet metal warehouse style building with fading Salmon color walls and part of it has fading sun bleached Salmon color on it. Apparently it was not painted in decades.
That rink has not much information so we turn to this link- BisManCafe.com that explains more details.
The rink was opened in 1978, 4 years after the owners, the Heiers opened the original rink in Bismarck, ND in 1974 as part of their expansion. However, I have no date for closure. I also do not have anything about its closure at all or why they closed.
Both Wheel-A-While rinks folded and sold to two different churches. Quite a coincidence.
