Warrington Roller Skating Rink 925 Easton Road, Warrington, Pennsylvania was once Warrington Roller Skating Club and it was operational for a long time. According to Xome, they said it was built and opened in 1950. George and Anna Mekosh opened the rink in May 1955 and sold it in the year 2000.
Dick Clark stopped at this rink as part of many rinks he went to for his American Bandstand style dance party. Warrington Roller Skating Rink was one of the stops. Bobby Rydell (no relations to the popular roller skates brand) sang at the rink. It was a dance party, not a roller skating event.
The young man signing autographs was Eddie Cochran.
The building is still standing. It is now Sequia Deck Supply store. Someone from the local museum just a couple of years ago and asked to see the back. The skate floor was still there but they are using it as a warehouse.
As of January 2022, it is worth 2,600,665 USD. It is not for sale. It is real estate estimate value. It was last sold in October 2006 for 1,900,000 USD. But the rink closed long before that. The building was also sold on 07 January 2004. The value at that year was 1,400,000 USD. Anyone know when the rink closed?
The Interior.
Non-painted Hardwood Maple floor that they said it is still there in the rear part of the building. It is use as storage in the rear part. The building has 2 parts but as continuation. The reason for the two parts is because the rear half is wider than the front half. Rear half is where the rink floor was. Front half is everything but the rink floor. Such as snack bar, eat area, DJ booth, bathrooms, etc.
The Exterior.
The original appearance is quite different than the current look. When it was roller rink, the front wall had a faux step format. 3-steps each side of front. The new owner changed to Gabled appearance which is also fake. It is really Segmental Arch. The front doors were in the middle of the front with 2 large windows on each side of the front door. The rest of the building had windows on each side of walls.
The current store made it more like a Georgian look frontage.
