JAMZ Roller Skating Center 7015 Roosevelt Blvd, Philadelphia, PA. This was taken likely in 1980s due to the color, texture of film, and hues. The United Skates logo was painted as a mural. Source: Facebook - I skated at Cornwells Roller Skating Center group.
JAMZ Roller Skating Center 7015 Roosevelt Blvd, Philadelphia, PA. This was taken in 2014. The logo really very plain compared to Rolling Thunder which is more exciting than JAMZ's logo. Source: Google.

JAMZ Roller Skating Center 7015 Roosevelt Blvd, Philadelphia, PA. There were different art work on the wall. This showed banners-flags look on the back wall from where the photographer took. I believe that was a TV monitor on the wall advertising different sessions. This was taken in 2017 though after JAMZ was gone. The back wall or the back of the "Iron Board"© wall of the rink was quite different. Can you see the "Iron Board"©? Source: Google Images.
Rolling Thunder Skating Center 7015 Roosevelt Blvd, Philadelphia, PA. This place has a lot of arcade games. I am not sure about before Rolling Thunder, I know for sure much less games. Skee-ball is my favorite. Bubble Bobble is my favorite classic arcade game (not shown). Source: Google Images.
Rolling Thunder Skating Center 7015 Roosevelt Blvd, Philadelphia, PA. So many candies! That seems to me much more than I seen in many rinks on this site. The floor tiles looked familiar. I recalled fast food restaurants especially Burger King and some McDonalds had those floor tiles. Some roller rinks had them too as I recalled. Source: Google Images.
Rolling Thunder Skating Center 7015 Roosevelt Blvd, Philadelphia, PA. Hmm, a shopping cart was left abandoned at the door! No name is seen. Was that KMart cart? Reason I said that because sort of kitty corner on the parking lot from the rink was the former KMart that E.L. closed the chain very slowly. Source: Google Images.
Rolling Thunder Skating Center 7015 Roosevelt Blvd, Philadelphia, PA. Ohhh something special was going on! Nice balloons! Ah, I see they do have security, good. Whew, no abandoned shopping cart this time. Red carpet.. was it a celebrity arriving? Some sure did right next door.. at the former famed or rather infamous Empire Rock Club where Jon Jovi and Cinderella played. Cinderella the band was discovered there by Jon Jovi. Rolling Thunder Skating Center 7015 Roosevelt Blvd, Philadelphia, PA. You can see the "Iron Board"© geometry shape here by seeing the half wall but better vision is to see the ceiling to match with. Please see the next two illustration below. Source: Google Images.
Stadium is a terminology for geometric shape meaning rounded ends in semi-circle with parallel lines in between ends. It is not the same as Rotunda which means wood itself is bended and lay curved. This rink in this profile is not a Stadium, please see next illustration. Please click Stadium for further information. Illustration Copyrighted by Dead-Rinks.
This is the "Iron Board"© Shaped rink that WOW of Northeast Phila, WOW Family Fun Center, JAMZ Roller Skating Center, and the current Rolling Thunder Skating Center has. It was likely a United Skates of America format because many of their rinks has or had that stair to the center of the rink. This is quite unusual format at this rink as it appeared in the photos. Iron Board is what I name it because it does shape like an ironing board you have at your home. Illustration Copyrighted by Dead-Rinks. "Iron Board" Terminology Copyrighted by Dead-Rinks. It means geometric shape like Ironing board.

Rolling Thunder Skating Center 7017 Roosevelt Blvd, Philadelphia, PA (Still Operational)
This roller rink that was on 7015 Roosevelt Boulevard in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was called W O W of Northeast Phila which also was Wow Family Fun Center. There were also a couple more names: Jamz Roller Skating Center and the still operational rink named Rolling Thunder Skating Center! Whew, four names it went through. And OH! United Skates of America was also the name for this rink!
The problem is that I could not find the dates of former rinks before the currently operating Rolling Thunder Skating Center. Was it new operator took over each rink? If so, when they started? When they ended by closing and sold?
In fact, I do not even know when Rolling Thunder Skating Center began either! Their Facebook page did not even show the date either. Sure is a wow to see all names change. Looks like after 2011 because Google Map showed the date in 2011 as Jamz while Rolling Thunder is seen on 2014 maps.
The other problem is that the address is exactly the same for the rink as it was for the former Empire Rock Club where Jon Jovi, Cinderella, and other bands played there before it closed for good and became a Bingo hall, a furniture store, and now a beer store.
Google Images had way so too many images! It took me a couple of hours to go through them and look at them. Mostly are selfies especially so many beautiful females both skaters and non-skaters took of themselves at the rink. Wow. What about the rink itself, ladies? Google Images site is all about the places people went, NOT about yourself.
The Interior.
W O W of Northeast Phila: They have stairs to walk over the rink and walk down to the center of the rink. This is a classic United Skates of America design that I find it often in those rinks. So did WOW was a United Skates of America franchise? It was possible. Anyone know about that?
The rink floor was not shaped as a geometrically Stadium format with perfect rounded corners of the half-walls. Instead it is quite different shape. It is narrower at the end than it is at the end of the center part of the rink. I call this shape, "Iron Board"© geometric shape because one end is longer than the back end that is shorter for turning. See illustration.
WOW Family Fun Center: They have stairs to walk over the rink and walk down to the center of the rink. This is a classic United Skates of America design that I find it often in those rinks. So did WOW was a United Skates of America franchise? It was possible. Anyone know about that?

JAMZ Roller Skating Center: They have stairs to walk over the rink and walk down to the center of the rink. This is a classic United Skates of America design that I find it often in those rinks. So did WOW was a United Skates of America franchise? It was possible. Anyone know about that? They had bold colors on the rink including Fire Engine Red rails of 36 inches high with Yellow Rails for the center of the rink area that are carpeted. It is designed to rest in that area. Walking over is difficult with skates on, I believe.
The wall where the Rolling Thunder logo is on now was flag-banner styles as if it was hanging from the ceiling down. Each "banner-flag" had 2 sets of colors each that are not matching to other banners-flags.
That was very 2010s look with strong solid colors like most rinks in 2010s.
Rolling Thunder Skating Center: Now this is a wow because of beautiful boulder-like mural with the name Rolling Thunder on the wall shining with black light. They have stairs to walk over the rink and walk down to the center of the rink. This is a classic United Skates of America design that I find it often in those rinks. So Was WOW a franchise of United Skates of America? It was possible. Anyone know about that?
They painted over the banner flag like as I described for JAMZ rink above. They painted with the logo on that it looked like rock boulders shaped into their name and the rocks on the ground in the mural. At one end, they have different sports including their hometown Philadelphia Eagles. They also include a boxer that is punching the Liberty Bell. DISCLAIMER - THIS IS MY OPINION OF WHAT I SAW IN PHOTOS OF THE BOXER PUNCHING THE BELL. To me, punching the bell is sort of like anti-Americanism because you want to beat down America. Not ringing the bell. That is how I interpreted. I strongly suggest to change that mural. But if that is what the rink wants to be, its their freedom of speech but that is bringing politics into business which is a no-no. That is why I suggest they change that part of the mural. Paint the bell at a different location and the boxer still act boxing with another boxer.

Previous operating rink that closed but came back years later, are considered dead because the reopening is considered rebooted, nothing to do with the former.
