Tommy's Roller Palace, 195 St. Paul Street, Rochester, New York
Valley Skating Center, 195 St. Paul Street, Rochester, New York
Tommy's Roller Palace was a roller skating rink for a time. Before that, it was a taxi cab company headquarters. It was not until 1960s Tommy's opened as a rink until it was rebooted as another rink before it was shut down completely in 1979. Today the facility has been reverted back to offices and apartments. It was rather a small rink.
In 1974, it was sold and became Valley Skating Center which focus more on figure skating ans such. But they closed in 1979.
They even had organ music.
However, do not let the size fool you from the photo on top. It does look small but areal view showed the length of the rink. It was clearly designed as a cab company headquarters but turned to a rink. Today it is an office complex.
UPDATE: Now parking garage.
Tommy's ran around 1960s to 1974 when owners Thomas and Viola Sapere operated and named after the owner, Thomas Sapere. Clearly it was a very short run with the Sapere ran this rink.
It was sold in 1974 to Alex and Audrey Sigismondi and it was renamed as Valley Skating Center till it's Demise in 1979. Both rinks ran short time. Therefore, not much information regarding those two rinks.
The interior had entire floor made with polished Maple floor and was built like a log cabin even framing the rink around where the walls were. The walls itself had wood panels that were popular at any commercial and residential homes.
