Tommy's Las Cruces Roller Rink 100 E. Willoughby Ave, Las Cruces, NM. I love both pictures. This one was taken by Alex through Twitter. This is a beautiful picture of how the sun shine was positioned as he took that picture to show the shadow. He captured correctly to display the shadow yet the sign itself hinted a slight darkness which is functional as the rink has closed. This should be award winning photo. This was likely taken close to sunset in Spring or Fall. I could be wrong because Google Map has an August 2011 photo of the sign and it was already sunsetting. Perhaps at 6pm. Tommy's Las Cruces Roller Rink 100 E. Willoughby Ave, Las Cruces, NM. I love both pictures. This one was taken by Robby Virus on Flickr. It is so beautiful! Perfect clear skies, And that balance of color of the sky and the sign. This is New Mexico and I do not know when this was taken but I have been to Central America and I have seen this blueness in the sky. It is summer season. Winter sky tend to be a little Whitish Blue. Tommy's Las Cruces Roller Rink 100 E. Willoughby Ave, Las Cruces, NM. This was taken in 2011, already beyond when the rink closed in 2005. That was nice of the vehicle wrap company would do that. Source: Google. 2011.
Tommy's Las Cruces Roller Rink 100 E. Willoughby Ave, Las Cruces, NM
Tommy's Las Cruces Roller Rink was a rink that was located at 100 East Willoughby Avenue, Las Cruces, New Mexico. This rink was built and opened in 1954 and was sold on May 19, 2005 to a vinyl graphics company that deals with vehicle wraps, basketball courts, things like that. I am sure they even can put it on roller rink floors like they do with basketball.
Anyway, that rink ran from 1954 to its closure 51 years later. It ran pretty long good run.
The walking score was pretty good! It is scored at 62. That is pretty good considering for the skaters to walk over from their home to go skating if they are the teens and not own a car.
I highly recommend you to check out this place because the sign is a legend. Like Skateland out in Midwest somewhere, iconic signs like Tommy's should be permanently displayed. Again, nice of the vehicle wrap company to leave it on there. As of 2019 Google Map showed it is STILL there after 15 years beyond the closure of Tommy's.
When you stop there, maybe you can get your vehicle wrapped! Why not! Check them out here-- OutoftheBlueGraphics.
