Courtesy of Loopnet. Rink in heydays. It has been renovated completely into something else now.
Thunder Wheels Skating Center, 11401 W Flagler St, Miami, Florida
Thunder Wheels Skating Center was one of the two Thunder Wheels Skating Center. The other being in Hialeah, FL.
There were not much information and no information on the other rink. Only was on Loopnet. And sources about the owner of the TWSC. It was under the TWSC Investment which was established on June 6, 1996, building was built in 1997 but only to be put up for sale on September 05, 2001 and sold by May 30, 2002. Now it is an office building. It was total renovated into an office building. Google map showed it is an office building now.
The rink did not operate long. From 1997 to 2001. That is 4 years.
Originally it had the feel of 1980s-early 1990s Miami-Vice colors of Teal stripes-- two to be exact including one on roof-line and Light Grey. They had no windows. Unfortunately the photo on Loopnet which is the only one I can see was quite small. Now the building has windows, and modern American Spanish deco exterior look on the building.
Unfortunately, there are no photos of either location for the interior and only one tiny photo of exterior with a traffic light pole in the way.
Currently a Social Security Building. The street name sounded familiar to me and I realized I was at that Social Security office with my ex-fiancée who lives in Miami. I had no idea it was a skating rink at the time. I was there in 2002. I did not skate there but another rink in town.
