Top three courtesy of Google Map. 2007 followed by 2013 and finally 2017 on bottom above. Sad its no longer a rink.
Both Courtesy of The Skating Star. Sorry for their poor quality of photos. All of their pics are filled with people and not one without and not good quality either. Be sure to clean your phone camera lens!
The Skating Star 1535 Newcastle Rd, Forrest City, AR
The Skating Star was not a person but a skating rink at 1535 Newcastle Rd in Forrest City, Arkansas that mysteriously closed in 2015 according to Facebook page. There is no website and Google Map only has newest photos as of 2013. Real strange. The last post was they were looking for a new DJ in February 28, 2015. This should belong to one of those mystery related or themed videos on YouTube. Are you listening, paranormal and mystery theorists? Maybe you can find out what the mystery is happening with this rink that disappeared.
Milton Schlette was one of the owners.
Rink Time said it first opened in 1985. But interesting that in Facebook the owners or manager said they have been in business 8 years. It did say 2005. Must be different owner who owned the same rink and name. JUST IGNORE the previous lines! They were in errors. But the original actually opened in around 1977 according to a skater named T.F. because he was there at the time. I take his word seriously so it was opened in 1977.
All of those sources needs to double check by getting some new glasses and RESEARCH! Haha.
Good thing I found this on Google Map. Sadly, it has turned to a company owning this property and I see it appeared to be some farmer owns this because I see stack of hay and earth moving equipment and all.
The Interior.
It had several block section of colors the same concept as many rinks I seen of lately that they are showing Green, Red, Blue in 2010s or even 2020s hue of colors. I am well aware of 2021 and 2022 colors will be according to Metropolitan magazine I get for me to do my research for Dead Rinks regarding design and to discuss with potential skate rink owners.
Anyway, it has that neat design I like with those walls. It is common design with many rinks. It also has classic ball light pendants. Very 1960s-70s look. Hey FX Matt, are you listening? We miss those beer keg balls! Please bring them back! We sure miss them! I was a kid and love that and I think my mom threw out one of those that I wanted to decorate with a light (remember those days with old incandescent light bulbs that can be very hot and catch fire. The label said not to do that anyway) Now we have LED, no problem, can do that with those kegs and bring back the style! Hahaha.
Each one has different color just like the walls. The end wall is Dark Blue.
The floor is Maple wood clear coated polyurethane with LOG Cabin style floor.
The Exterior.
Free-Span Steel Truss Steel-Walled Warehouse - like Building with gable roof. it was all white walls. It sits in a nice spacious and cozy spot along this country windy road. After the rink was sold to some farmer I think, they made a big garage door opening on the side. Sadly that is what it became of. Not a rink anymore.
