All courtesy of The Roller Derby, LLC. This one was taken in 2012. You can see pretty much it was aged and there were no handrail for the stair! And the concrete seems to be listed. danger if there were some black ice in winter there. I love the logos! All beautiful in different appearances. The top left is from their website, top right from Facebook, the larger one is from their website as well. I believe it is a homemade font. I love it! Can we have it pleaseee!? Haha.
Google Maps. Taken in July 2018. There are no older ones to see. Oh well.
Taken by a Yelpper- skate fan with a good idea. Wow, beautiful view from that balcony! See the mountains in background and some colonial buildings as well behind the rink. You can see it is a shotgun-style built. Umm, the sign for the rink is missing.. Uh oh! This was taken very recently!
Courtesy of The Roller Derby, LLC. This was posted in 2012 in Facebook but photo appeared to be taken in 1990s due to some mullets seen in the photo. They had colorful light tubes and of course, the must-have: mirror balls! In background what you saw on the wall above by the ceiling is skate section choice light sign (singles, couple, boys only, girls only, figure, speeding, etc). The two photos above are birthday parties there on long tables and chairs. The colors represents University of West Virginia.
Bottom two courtesy by skaters in Google Image. With out and with disco lights. Noticed less windows than the original?

**********CLOSING APRIL 3, 2021!************
Once there was a rink with a name for a sport-- roller derby but this is The Roller Derby that was a family owned skating rink on 510 10th Street in Moundsville, West Virginia which is located near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is west of steel city.
It was opened in 1996 according to Manta but not sure.
It is closing on April 3, 2021 for good after they had operated for quite a time. Appeared to be opened in 1970s thanks to a photo of the old interior rink that was showing a different kind of Fan layout with Maple wood. It had seven "blades" or sections of wood on each end instead of standard 3 on each end of the rink. This was very unusual rink floor at the time but replaced with RollerCourt.
I do not know why they sold the place. The owner on the Facebook page said they even do not know who it was sold to and what they will do to it. Likely might be something else.
Because of this rink was opened back in 1970s. I have strong feeling that it may have been open even further back and likely different names as well. Anyone? If so, that rink name or names WILL be on this page.
This place was last sold for $125,000 in April 2007 according to Xome.
The name is not to be confused with Flat-Track Roller Derby, the sports and Roller Derby, the skate manufacturer which was a spin off of the original Banked-Track Roller Derby sports.
The Interior.
Originally it was well lit with many windows on each side of the rink but small windows each. Also it had Maple wood floor with unusual fan style floor that had six sections of wood turning instead of 3 sections. Since this rink was narrow, this was necessary to design the floor this way because I have seen a very narrow alive rink floor was in horrible design. The angle was bit of oddity. The wider the rink floor is, the better it does look. So, whoever did was smart to have that design.
But for The Roller Derby, LLC owners, they had RollerCourt lay down which is a rubberized tiles. It does give a different feel.
The Exterior.
The building is Gabled roof with a faux front to hide that Gable roof look. Originally it was different than the current look of Western style wood. Back then it was a stone blocks style. The trusses.. I am not sure. Either steel or wood.
They renovated the exterior in late 2010s apparently because of the 2012 photo of the rink exterior with the stone blocks look. The current looks a lot better and more modern. And better for accessibility. They have ramp for people using Wheelchairs and walkers and safer stair with rail to meet building codes. The original in 1982 did not have any such rails. It was a Roman stair style without rails.
