Courtesy of The Rink / Yelp. Beautiful sunset beaming light shining on the grand opening of The Rink. Sure they had a lot of vinyl posters on their windows. Quite a bit of that certain brand name on the wall and banner. I love this picture! Good job taking this one!
Courtesy of Google Map. Dated December 2018. Noticed the name remained and some of the vinyl still sticking up. What more interesting fact that they have the door opened! Yes, you can see it is open! Can you see it? I sure did. Was it still open all the way through December 2018? Date is unknown because their website was down in 2017.
Courtesy of Amy Spero / Yelp. This was opening day. That was the cake was for to celebrate grand opening with the entire staff. Amy is pictured holding up the cake with her daughter (I believe), and and the Manager, Justin Owens is in Blue button down shirt on next to Amy. The rest are staff I do not know their names. Nice looking Staff, Amy!
All of Amy Spero / Yelp (except for last one not on Yelp). Very different appearance. And yes, posts and wall in middle of rink (best view is the bottom photo). The TVs hanging are so 20th Century for this rink that opened in 2014? OK, the reason for the TV monitors were there all over the place and old analog TVs were there because before this rink was opened, it was a pizza shop. (As told by S.G.)
The Rink Bullhead at Riverview Mall 2350 Miracle Mile Ste 400, Bullhead City, AZ
The Rink Bullhead at Riverview Mall or known as The Rink was located at a shopping mall on 2350 Miracle Mile Ste 400, Bullhead City, AZ and it was a very short lived. From 2014 to 2017. The reason for short lived is unknown. It was a beautiful facility inside but they are gone. Is it the lease too expensive being at a shopping mall? Likely yes in my humble opinion as I can see malls do have high cost of leasing. Just go and ask your local shopping mall management and they will tell you or at least ask the store managements (a few please) and they will tell you. I know that for a fact.
Now this could have been the reason for The Rink closed. I do not know. My competitor did not know either. Truly a mystery. Anyone know what happened to this new rink that closed?
Seeing the logo, sounds like this was a franchise for The Rink. I know there is one in Florida with exact same logo. I think (try working on 1900 rinks by Oct 27, 2020 for almost 2 years). That is a lot of work. But I am sure it was a franchise.
Amy Spero owned the rink while the manager was Justin Owens. Strangely Bizapedia says it is still operational. Apparently that website is behind the news! haha.
Update--
Amy Spero replied and told me some reasons. Read on.
Strange, their website is out, and Yelp is saying they are closed but Google Map showed in December 2018 The Rink logo and sign are still up and running. Bizapedia is saying good standing and apparently still operational. I just realized that. Anyone know about this rink with a proof they are gone or still in business? Amy tells me no. They are not. She told me in Facebook message. While I am on the subject about Amy, she sounds like a real nice and friendly woman who really shared a lot about her place.
It is sad about how landlords of the plaza was treating because of the leaks they had in the building and was ruining the rink interior itself. The building literally was falling apart. It does look new but clearly a shoddy work.
When the temperature hit 120 degrees outside, their Air Conditioning went out. So, that was another issue. Then they had their Halloween and New Year's Eve parties, the pipes broke in the ceiling! Water would get all over the floor. It was total disaster during those two events and I am sure more than just those two. Those were one major part of the problem.
Problem two-- Again, has to do with the building owners who would not come to a reasonable agreement with new investors who wanted to buy the rink business. That evidently hurt Amy and her business as well.
Having said, Amy realized she was not meant to be in that area (or town) and meant to be elsewhere. It was a "sign" for her to be elsewhere. She felt elsewhere would be best for family reason.
Amy missed this big time. She loves to work with children and teens. She had so much fun.
I know how you feel Amy! You want to provide something for their recreational and fitness needs.
The Interior.
The interior looked so interesting and different. Yes, there were posts on the rink floor. The way the photos were taken, it was hard to see because of the angle. But thanks to the ceiling, there is one part that is a full wall runs in middle of the rink! It is quite odd to have that. The way the layout looked as if it was set on an angle from what the ceilings are. Each part is different kind of ceiling depends on where you are. Also different style of lighting on the ceiling as well. It was not uniformed throughout the place but very interesting concept though. I believe they used two stores into one. Interesting choices of color as well. Some of the walls are Rustic or Burnet Orange and the lightings a bit dimmer. I love the colorful tiles on the wall where the snack bar / kitchen is located.
The TV monitors were all over the rink because it was a pizza shop before the rink was opened. --S.G.
The Exterior.
Being part of a shopping mall, it is a very modern 2000s/2010s look. It looks like a gable style façade with the name of the rink. The logo looks quite similar to other The Rinks around the country and so likely it was a franchise. It was actually a flat roof Column posts Steel Truss Stucco-Walled Storefront - like Building.
