Courtesy of The Estate Facebook fan page. Only photo of the rink on that social media. Oh well.
Courtesy of Google Map. 2014 and 2019. Trees are gone, more open spacious and bright!
Courtesy of New Day Fellowship. Taken in 2020. New bigger sign, wood posts removed and replaced with Black steel posts. No more Forest Green frames for windows which now is Dark Brown. The same for their interior ceilings, doors, etc but retained their Rusty Red walls on Bricks! Dark Brown ceiling, trims, etc. I believe renovations on the exterior was done during COVID lockdowns.
Courtesy of Loop Net. Noticed the interior. Rather dark. And that thingy on the right in this photo was the 2300 square feet living quarters. Pretty low under there! I am sure it was removed or renovated for offices or classes for this non-denomination church.
The Eskate 440 Passion Play Rd, Eureka Springs, AR
The Eskate was a rink which now is a church at 440 Passion Play Road in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. It was a small simple rink in a nice countryside road that has pretty sharp curve and cross the street from another church.
What I like is their name, The Eskate. That is a twist on name with estate, the property and assets when you pass away. Well, it would be splled Eskate. E and skate. I love that name. Very rarely used name compared to too common names such as Skateland, Skateworld, Rollerworld, etc. Really.
It was a small rink with only 11,000 square feet building according to Loop Net 1 but Loop Net 2 says 8,640 Square feet. The sign proved the size in the photo! It had 8,640 SF rink side, 2,360 SF living quarters. Overall it was 11,000 SF (total).
It was a short lived rink from 2007 to 2014 which was 7 years although it was up for sale in 2010. It was pretty much dying at the time when it was up for sale. Loop Net said the date they created and posted for sale was in July 10, 2010 and they last updated on April 8, 2011. Must be either it was sold or withdrawn and finally sold to the church in 2014 when they attempted to sell it again.
It was last sold for 320,000 USD.
The Interior.
The photograph I got from Loop Net was not an excellent picture because of its film camera and the way it was downloaded and zoomed to fit. It appeared to have Dark Rusty Red walls all around the rink with glossy vaulted ceiling that the light reflexed on. It look rather dark in that photograph. It had 8,640 SF rink side, 2,360 SF living quarters 11,000 SF (total).
The Exterior.
It appeared to be Free-Span Steel Truss Brick-walled with steel-walled Country General Store - like Building with Gable roof. I love the exterior look with windows and has a deck from one side to the other making it looks like a home or a general store out in the countryside. Very homely feel in that neighborhood facing that building and the trees between parking lot and the road. A huge sign with the name The Eskate but it was very spacious bottom part of the sign. Was it the word "Skating Rink" would have been filled in that? It was possible. I love the colors on the building which had stain feel with Dark Rusty Red posts and Forest Green window trim. Very colorful. I love that small rink architectural design and this should be awarded for that. Very Conservative yet has that Country Folksy feel to it. It was trendy in 2000s with that look. Still love that look. Art would have those colors, stars, willow trees, hills, sheep, farm house and barn, also Colonial houses or buildings. That kind of art I am referring to here at that rink exterior. Unfortunately it did not last long. That really sad. IF they were still in business, I would have, for sure, make that stop to skate there. I have no negative toward this beautiful exterior design. Oh they painted the Stain Rusy Red Bricks with Tan color. It is so good of a design and ageless that the New Life Fellowship Church loved it and kept it that way.
It had windows up front of the building. It is necessary to have windows for small tight space to give it feel of more space interior.
Included the property was a campground you can pull up your RV to park. It was said to be also 1.84 acres.
The Stats:
Rink Size: N/A. Floor: Clear Polyurethane coated Maple wood. Floor Layout: Straight.
Building Size: 8,640 (rink side, 2,360 living quarters) 11,000 SF (total). Built: 2007. Demolished: Still standing, currently as a church.
Type of Building: Free-Span Steel Truss Brick-Walled Country General Store - like Building.
Roof: Gable.
Acres: 1.8450 Acres.
Operated: 2007 to 2014.
Reason for Closure: Financial woes?
Wanted: Information regarding actual date of open, closed, why closed, size of rink. Also photos especially indoors.
Anyone has pictures and/or information please let me know at [email protected]. Thank you.
