Every time they have a birthday party, those boys and girls whose birthdays celebrated at the rink would get a ride and a shirt as a gift from the rink. Really nice of them! You do not get that much anymore. It is sad. Hey, I never had my birthday party at a the rink! Boohoo! Source: The Hughes Family Photo Collection.

Super Skates of Winter Haven was a roller skating rink in Florida. Besides the name, it was not an ice rink or someplace up northern US. Ha. It was in Florida! There is not much information about the rink and no photos! Anyone knows about it?
There is however, thanks to Google Map, the location was a Gabled roof building with colorful siding diagonally stripped colors of Fire Engine Red and Yellow. Maybe those are the colors of my favorite comic book character that were Fawcett's, NOT Marvel's! Can you shout his name? If you can, good for ya. But he is Captain Marvel! Not Marvel's version!
The property has a cute white post fence that makes you feel at home. It sure does when looking at the photo. See photo above. That is all I can describe about the building and the fence. It looked well kept even the rink is out of business. It became a bakery for a time. Apparently with the Google Map showing that it is up for sale with the Realtor sign on the corner and another sign above where the rink/bakery had their sign on the wall used to be.
Historically, the 28,125 Square Feet building was built in 1980. Of course, the rink was opened that year and I had no idea when it went out of business and the bakery was opened there. To your surprise, the rink IS still there even when the bakery was in business. Is this an unusual trend having a rink and a bakery? Never know! Haha. This is the second rink and both are in Florida to have both a rink and a bakery in same complex.
The rink apparently in Concrete with special coating and its Grass Green color! Today rinks are in the popular Blue hues trend now. But this was green. It was converted to an indoor football field (the real football, not the American version).
The building apparently was large enough to have a medium size rink. It may have been reduced a little bit in size for the then new bakery to give room for their eating area, dinning room, and a living-room like room as well as their kitchen.
The rink/field showed that Grass Green floor with Snow-White Exposed beams and ceiling. Was that original? Anyone? I will need original photos of the rink itself.
This bakery sounds very good. Received high marks for excellency. They have been in business since October 2015.
The building originally looked different. No White post fence around the property. All exposed and all grey tiring look in Loopnet. Must be original when it was for sale before the next owner did as seen in Google Map shown.
The rink may had the original Tan Metallic siding with blue wall and red wall depends on where for exterior.
UPDATE: This rink was also apparently, Cypress Skates Center. .
UPDATE! --
I received an email today 28 December 2021 from someone by the name of Ken whose family operated the Super Skates of Winter Haven. Very informative! Thank you so much Ken! Really helpful and I will add photos as well. here is what Ken has to say --
My family sold the rink to our business partner in 1989 and I don't know much about it after that time period. It was eventually sold to another operator who changed the name [to Cypress Skates Center] and the floor before closing the rink.
Here's what I know:
The floor was originally wooden. In 1980, it was the largest wooden rink floor in Florida and one of the largest in the Southeast.
People traveled from all over Florida (Tampa, Orlando, Miami) to skate here in the early 80s. (Wow, they came that far to skate! Must be well known! Nice! Darn, I missed it because the early 80s I was still in high school and graduated in 1983! I did not even have a car at the time. Hey, no internet at the time know about the other rinks!)
It was open 7 days a week. On weekends, we ran two daytime sessions and up to 3 night time sessions.
The color palette was all American - red, white and blue. The exterior was blue siding with white concrete. The main carpet was blue with some red accents for the skate room, pro shop and snack bar. The uniforms were red tops with the Super Skates logo and white pants.
It had a large snack bar, party room and arcade with all the cool games (Asteroids, PacMan, Donkey Kong, Defender, Foosball).
When breakdancing became popular, we installed a small dance floor and held concerts with up and coming rap musicians like the Fat Boys.
Birthday parties were popular and each kid received a t-shirt and ride in the red skate car.
People still talk about the rink and some old patrons created a Facebook page for it. Will see if I can find it and send you a link. (Ken! Thank you! I would love to see that link!)
I'll ask my Dad if he still has any opening day photos, building plans or floor dimensions. (Awesome, I would love to see especially the building plans and floor dimensions!)
Hope this helps.
Ken
