Courtesy of Google Map. Present day view of the former rink. Now a warehouse. The rink was in the building on the left where this tractor trailer is parked. Yes, they removed that entry and built garage door instead. Like I said, a true odd couple here.
Sunburst Recreation Center 970 Main W., Vernal, UT
Sunburst Recreation Center was a roller rink however, the photos I see did not show it was like that. It looked too much like a garage. And the two building together really quite an Oscar and a Felix. I could not find anymore information regarding this former rink but only I found name, address, and property size. That is it. It did say it was sold and no longer listed but they kept that as database on Loop Net. Anyone know about this rink?
The buildings showed it was a barn-like Cinder-blocks garage for one side and the other looked very modern clean brick building. This is why I said they are like the odd couple together. This library from town showed the photograph of workers finishing up this building right next to the brick as you can see in the photograph from them in B/W photo. You can see they were working on the out-built that has Gable extension for people to walk in. Likely an entry because of cold winters they have. They were apparently building where the garage door was in that photo but the Google Map showed it was removed and turned back to the garage door! The website said it was taken in 1981. The trucks and a van I see looked early 1970s. Likely the rink was around at that time. Not sure.
Likely it was a garage after all before the rink. I have no dates, no other information on that rink. Anyone? Please contact me at my email shown below.
