Stardust Skate Center, 2571 12th St, Sarasota, FL
Stardust just ceased operations in April 2018. It was open in 1995.
Ronni Tasman and her husband, Larry Tasman owned the rink as well as their bus limo services. They opened and ran for 23 years until they wanted to get into semi-retirement by letting go the rink business to focus on their bus services.
The rink was very modern inside with black ceiling, had star-shaped lights on the ceiling, rubbered floor with blue and black checkered floor, and hosted several major events such as roller derby with the home team, North River Rolling ReneGades (sic) (That is correct spelling according to the team).
There were events such as sweet sixteen parties, proms, and more.
Currently the sign is still up on the wall and the building is for lease. Apparently maybe some other rink operators might want to lease the rink? Perhaps. We will see. It would be nice to have it reopened because the rink is beautiful rink. One of the most modern and has much glow in dark in that facility. Even the snackbar area. Mainly their theme color is purple complimenting with white on outside and black on the inside.
UPDATE: Now as an indoor pickleball field center with a dozen courts.
