Google Map. Top photo showed aeriel view of the entire complex. The red pin is where Fantasyland Indoor park is while the rear is twice as long and same width is the current VON Sports where the indoor futbol is located. If you want to buy back, you can merge both and make it a supersize rink! Big dreams.. Funny, the name is right for the kiddie stuff. Fantasy. Haha. But seriously, sad it is no longer a rink but many entertainment are there such as games, mini golf, futbol, and more.
Star Wheels 1300 Fall River Avenue, Seekonk, MA
Star Wheels was a rink on 1300 Fall River Avenue at Seekonk, Massachusetts. It was a rather cute bright rink because of its colors- Sky Blue bottom wall and Snow White wall as well. Very.. Central American look (very common look when I was there in 1990s).
Star Wheels also had a Blue Rubber Coated Cement floor. Still, from what I saw on the Facebook page of skaters, they had much fun and wildness at this rink. Pretty common in 1980s and 1990s era of roller skating that they had those wild big hair, tight jeans, and baggy shirts and all.
Unfortunately, for teen skaters, it was short lived. From 1986 to 1991. They had a nice huge facility to skate in and pretty much a lot of space inside as you can see in photos.
AT this present time, no idea who started this rink and why he/she/they closed the rink for good. The building was designed for the rink clearly as you can see in the photo. And did look large too.
The Interior.
Walls there very Central American style colors of Sky Blue with Snow White colors and style. That mean bottom part was blue as top part was white. The Cinderblock rails were all Sky blue. Everything inside were blue including their rink floor blue! It was Blue Rubber Coated Cement floor.
The rink floor appeared large. They had very 1980s style disco look on the ceiling including that Starburst and other lights and Disco Ball/Mirror Ball/Diamond Ball.
After the rink closed and sold, it became Fantasyland Indoor Children Amusement Center. they changed to several colors with murals of animals.
Truly groovy but a little late to start the rink in that style. Was the late start caused the rink to close? Who knows.
The Exterior.
The exterior, it had two buildings actually. The main one was large with Gable roof and Steel-walled warehouse like building and a back building that looked like a "longshot" style building and since it was sort of narrow. You could line up maybe 20 cars in that building with some spared space to get out of the vehicle after you park in there with the vehicle doors dinging on the wall.
One thing, this building does look more like a supersized 1950s Google Architecture you have seen homes like (common you saw in Florida, California, etc.) and even sport a part that looked like it was made for a chimmey on the right side, right side of the main doors extension out built. Above that extension is a series of windows. Currently it says Game Room.
Looks like the community beat out Walmart in 2011 according to the Facebook group on Star Wheels.
Ironically, Fantasyland has an Easter egg-- the stars on the front wall outside that reminds you of Star Wheels. That is too bad the new owners did not preserve it as a rink. Why a children amusement park indoors? They even have a miniature golf course on the side with good tree shades as I can see on Google Map and that building out back as part of Vos Sports. They also own part of the land on the right that are full of grassfield. I zoomed out to see if Walmart has a new store elsewhere on that street. Yes, just a few doors down! Why Walmart wanted the rink spot for? What are their reason for this? I should say "were".
Original colors were unknown but today, as an indoor children amusement park, they painted the walls to have three main colors that gives very warm feeling to it. Snow White, Dusty Rose, and Crimson Red.
